So, I have increased my headphone budget to approximately R3000 now that I've sold some gear & freed up some moola...
Use case 1:
Hidizs S9 Pro dongle dac
Rated output power: 100mW single ended/200mW balanced @ 32ohms
Recommend impedance: 8-300ohms
THD: 0.0012%
Use case 2:
Dedicated headphone stack - Schiit Magni 3 + Modi 3
Additional requirements now that the budget has increased, is detachable cable (& balanced cables if there are any closed back headphones)
Front runners from advice received on the forum & research done so far are:
1. Austrian Audio Hi-X15
2. Anker Soundcore Life Q35...slightly outside my initial requirements but has wireless hi-res (ldac) as an option in addition to wired.
