I’m getting lost in this conversation, maybe I’m getting old and cannot follow many lines of thought simultaneously. I would like to comment on whether amps and cables change the sound coming out of a speaker and thereafter make some broad comments. My comments are based on personal experience over many years of patience and sleepless nights consumed by my quest to achieve great stereo playback in my home. 1. Different amplifiers make speakers sound different. I can differentiate between class A . Class D . Class AB ETC and amps of different current/watt outputs on my speakers. 2. Different Cables also make speakers sound different. Not only in timbre but also in resolution , noise floor sound stage etc. 3. System synergy is a fact. I’m lucky that my components come from 1 distributor who I believe has carefully chosen synergistic components . This does not mean other brands do not synergise with my components. 4. The acoustic space , power and earthing are equally important. 5. Speakers need repositioning whenever up stream components are changed. 6. Burn in for every component is vital. At least 200 hours even for an item as inconspicuous as a power outlet . Yes it drives me insane. 6. Speaker positioning is a tedious time and labour intensive ritual. Many were the nights of broken sleep spent on this .7 The source format and resolution changes the sound coming out of the speakers. 8. The sound coming to the ears is different to the sound coming out of the speakers making room treatment essential. 9. And I could go on and on ad nauseum 10. Nevertheless a simple inexpensive system in a seemingly terrible room can very often mysteriously sound the best
