    Post Office

    I recently got something ordered in August 2014 as well... Their slogan is "we deliver, whatever it takes"... Pity sometimes it takes 8 months lol... Never again for me, sending everything through Postbox-courier now.

    DIY 2015 First photos

    I'd suggest to rather have everyone source from a squeezebox, all units syncrhonised and just one "DJ" doing the playing, or a playlist? And using the smaller downstairs room for turntables...

    826 -> GM70 AMP Design

    That's a nice board to build, it can probably used to drive GM's with very little modification, the only thing I would really change is to run a discreet power supply for everything but it's a bit more expensive that way, let me know if you need 10m45 chips, I'll be ordering my 10m90 soon and...

    826 -> GM70 AMP Design

    Sorry, I realised that yesterday but didn't get a chance to do an update, I've been working on this a bit more for the last couple of days and figured the tubelab powerdrive loosely copied from the 845 schematic is a safe bet to get rid of the heavy bits and it sounds great to me. I need to...

    Thank you I'll have a look.

    826 -> GM70 AMP Design

    Ok thanks, am I implementing it correctly?

    How about this then?

    826 -> GM70 AMP Design

    Ok thanks, thought there was more to the chokes than that... I'm happy with a solid state CCS for loading the driver then instead, will see about the bias side... maybe a simple grid stopper.

    826 -> GM70 AMP Design

    I wonder if such large chokes are really needed for SMPS B+ supplies... Nevertheless, considering the size of my 10H 300ma choke I have here, I'm leaning towards CCS....

    826 -> GM70 AMP Design

    Hi Thank you, I was under the impression that the whole purpose of the e-choke is that it performs much better than a normal choke of the same H rating. But I did miss the part about it not being intended for anode loads :( I haven't seen this mentioned on the larger e-choke module, but I'll...

    826 -> GM70 AMP Design

    Yes I'll be careful, not sure if it will become reality though, been messing about with GM70 ideas for a while now, the volts scare me, but then again there isn't much practical difference between 600, 800 and 1000dc, is there?(In reality though I'll probably run at 800V, the inital idea was to...

    826 -> GM70 AMP Design

    Hi I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with the greenvalve amp: http://cl.ly/3n0b380j3i1Z1V1M0R2D/o https://greenvalve.wordpress.com/the-maxim-gm70/img_6620/ What I don't like about it is that it still uses some large and heavy chokes.. I've reworked it and was wondering if one of the tube...

    Connectors in Pretoria

    Hi Thanks for the advice, I'll stop by the old fashioned shop and see what they have :)

    Connectors in Pretoria

    I ended up buying 2 cables from new world in menlyn, it wasn't cheap but they were full cables, with a XLR socket, 5m of cable and a 6.35mm jack on the other side, all of it screw on, which suited my needs :)

    Thank you will give it a go.

    Connectors in Pretoria

    Hi Does anyone know where I can get RCA and XLR connectors in Pretoria?

    Can anyone tell me why this happened...

    Yip red hot ;) I wouldn't know to be honest, the amp is a bit behind the speakers so I couldn't see the drivers, not that I even bothered to look, I don't really want to tease the tiger so I don't know if I will do any experiments to reproduce it.

    Do valve and solid state amps sound the same?

    http://www.fostexinternational.com/docs/speaker_components/pdf/FE206En.pdf You can check with my neighbors but I assure you there is no such drop-off as predicted between 50-100hz... Anyone else prefer single ended SS over push pull SS?

    Can anyone tell me why this happened...

    Hi I have no scope... If the issue is a design problem, certainly then I suppose it's solved by attaching the table ground, I was just curious what would cause it to happen and why only with the table and if it's a faulty component, I've had other devices at the front that introduced hum before...

    Can anyone tell me why this happened...

    It's a PCB so not that easy to just modify the circuit, but yeah biassing the amp probably takes 2-4 times longer than normal.
