No, signal format change made no difference. My remedy was to connect the PS5 directly to the TV, went to settings and disabled HDCP. Then re-routed HDMI back via the AVR and enabled HDCP again. It's been working for 3 days and counting :)

windshear - yes, I tried that too. The only thing that worked was disabling HDCP and enabling it.
