How many of you like the sound system in your car?

I love listening to music in my Ranger..........after replacing everything about it except the HU. Mosconi DSP to fix the signal, Blam Amps, JL 8" sub and modified Dynaudio drivers from a Scirocco.

    DIY Build resources

Hi everyone Been out of it for a good few years. Are there any decent local suppliers of speaker drivers or is Madisound still the go-to? Specifically looking for Seas and Morel Thanks in advance

    Kodak inverters? Good or not?

I am currently using a Kodak OGPlus6.2 inverter with 2 Kodak 5.1KwH batteries and 10 Canadian Solar 600w panels. It does the 'blending' thing well, ie uses everything it can from Solar first, the will supplement from either battery or grid or both depending on SOC and priorities configured. No...

    Height of disappointment

Considering the room was a major selling point for them, it is all very confusing. I agree that you need to start somewhere, it's just SO frustrating seeing a seriously high end room fitted out with SERIOUSLY low end kit. It would be like owning a Bowler Wildcat and never even driving it on a...

    Height of disappointment

I would imagine the previous owner (the one that had the room built) had decent kit in there. After all, there are paradigm bookshelves attached to brackets on the the patio walls.

    Height of disappointment

So, new years eve we go with some friends to their sister and brother-in-law's place for a party. When the subject of getting some music up and running comes up, I immediately jump up to help and follow the guys to this room - at this point I have no idea what I'm about to walk in to...

    Using car speakers at home?

I'll agree with Naughty to a point. While it is technically possible to get car audio component speakers in a large-ish format (9" mid bass) that will cover most of the audio spectrum, by the time you've forked out the money to do so, you would have been better off buying a proper set of...

How many Db for casual listening...

Nitti - the db on your volume control is referring to attenuation -72 is about as attenuated as it gets, ie zero volume 0 attenuation is flat out. It has nothing to do with the volume level inside your room.

    Speaker damage due to amp

I have my yellow cones on a pair of Rotel RB1091 monos - 500w and it is VERY uncomfortable sitting in the room long before any power handling ceilings are reached. Remember, the power rating of a speaker refers to the thermal power handling capability of the speaker - ie the amount of power the...

Help: Rear Speakers Sounding Better then the Fronts B&W Speakers/Mantaz Amp

Whyme, this may seem like a silly question, but have you double checked the phasing on the 683's? I have heard a set and they are DEFINITELY not a slouch as far as bass is concerned. I really do think you have a set up problem here, and as goos as the 685's sound, I know from personal...

For all you Yellow Cone fans...

Mazda, between Starsound and XTC, fire is forthcoming, no need to worry about that.

For all you Yellow Cone fans...

Here's a spanner in the works for the yellow cone hater - I have a pair of CWM7.3 in wall speakers in my lounge. While the tweeter is of the nautilus persuasion and the Midrange is an FST kevlar unit, there is neither aluminium nor yellow anywhere to be seen. Tweeter is silk and the midrange...

Getting music to play with as much depth as movies?

If the new Marantz recievers are the same as the older ones, you need to configure the sub output correctly or it won't send any output to it when your fronts are configured as large and you're listening to anything that isn't digital multi channel. ie - It won't mix the sub in if the source is...

Receiver mounted on granite/wood - squash balls?

A piece of granite big enough for a receiver will be more than heavy enough to squash the squash balls flat. But like, FLAT. You'de probably be better off getting a piece of closed cell foam cut to fit between the 2 slabs. Going the granite route to a bit of a waste though. The subs will...

Bullet, those black lines running down the front glass panel are the wires. They're attached to the glass to keep things need. X-over is in the base.

    Subwoofer advice please B&W

I had a 675 and can honestly say it is a fantastic sub. Huge bass, even in my less than ideal listening environment.

NAD preamp with humming/buzzing sound from phono-stage...

I have tested the pre-amp on 2 different turntables, tried all the settings etc. There's definitely something else wrong. It sounds almost like transformer hum, but not. If anyone is in a position to help Bullet, I think I still have the schematic diagram for the amp somewhere.

    Turntable setup hell!

The Sleep through the static album is a bit problematic, I found. It sounded god-awful when I was using an Ortofon Vivo Blue cartridge (not convinced I hadn't done something to damage it at some point though), but after replacing the cart with a Rhondo Blue and doing VERY VERY careful VTW...
