I have a set of TSI 400s and they're great speakers. I'd go for the RTI A5s or B&W 683s or Monitor Audio RX6s. I recently got a pair of RX6s and very happy with them running off an Integra 40.3. Have a listen to those speakers and see which sound you prefer :)

I don't know Abe, and I don't know many of you guys here. One thing I do know is that we all share the same passion. What is certain from the number of replies is that Abe is a great guy. I sincerely hope that he pulls through. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

I got R400 back I think... Was a while back.  The price was +- R5800, BUT there is a cap on the amount that you'd get back i.e. fine print.  You'll have to check the Discovery website for the cap limit. But definitely worth it!

I got mine from the iStore in Sandton.  It's the previous generation with the DVD ROM.  Also used my Discovery Credit Card and got some cash back too  :D

Also got a Mac mini :) great choice. Plex or XBMC and you're set. Btw, download Perian to enable 5.1 from the SPDIF.

If only I got my bonus this month :( Don't want to put it on my credit card... And I'd need to sell my current speakers first. *sigh*  life is tough  :P

I've had the same experience with the Kef Q700s. told the salesman to please change the speakers. I'm no audiophile but the high frequencies were way too pronounced and I found the mids lacking. The salesman connected up a pair of B&W 683s and I was really blown away. Amazing mid range; great...

I've had mine for 6 months, no hiccups.  On weekends, its on for +- 8 hours a day, without any issues ( TX-NR 609).  In durbs, my dad has the 606, sasme story :)  Could just be a bad batch.  I used to have a Yamaha RXV 2600; hated it and sold it at R2k less than what I paid for it 2nd hand...

I have a Mac mini and use the SPDIF (optical) out to my amp. Works great but you need an app to get it to bypass 'raw' sound otherwise it plays in stereo only.

I have the 609, and absolutely love it! Sold my Yamaha 2600 for it. Running Polk TSi 400s with it. Great combination :)

In my limited experience with audio and recent exposure to B&Ws, I actually found them to be a bit flat? Didn't enjoy the lack of higher frequencies... Not sure if I am talking crap. Although, I have listened to a few Polk's and I love them! I really enjoy the higher frequencies and clarity on...
