Is the batteries communicating with the inverter via can or 485. I think that inverter only does 485. It could be that the battery charge voltages has been manually setup and it is too high or equalization of the battery is set to run and this causes the issues you are having.

I would think that after 20 minutes of drawing 170 amps of current, your battery is getting flat. The alternators on those cars would be at most 90 amp. This can easily cause the amp to burn its IC's or even the sub.
