Thanks for all the replies, seems its not really worth it, will try and put together a decent htpc, doubt I'd get anything for the laptop, battery is as good as dead, but windows 10 seems to be running quite nicely on it. Will probably find some other use for it.

Want to use an older laptop with VGA out as a media center PC for my projector. At about 600 bucks would I be better off getting a chromecast 2 somewhere second hand at R800 odd. Are USB to HDMI converters any good and would a pentium dual core running at 2 GHz be sufficient to run it at 1080p.

Definitely not ST, the connector screws in, the point of the connector is also thicker than a standard LC or ST connector, the guys making up patch leads for a star coupler that uses these, took a look and said FC but the connectors they made dont fit and they dont know either Sent from my...
