Advice on amp and head unit

I can't offer expert advise compared to what has already been said. Only what I've picked up from personal experience. I also have CM9's and used to have an integrated amp (HK AVR370) which I found to be underpowered. I then coupled it with a Roksan stereo amp for the fronts, and for the most...

    Surround speaker placement options

My new TV room isn't huge so I believe I can get away with a minimalistic setup. I use a Yamaha RX-A3050 which should be sufficient for my intentions.  :2thumbs:

    Surround speaker placement options

Thank you for all the input. I'm glad I asked the question because I never really considered Atmos. Always thought it was more for high-end home theatres. I did some more reading on the subject and it's actually not that difficult to set up. The new house and my current hardware will be very...

    Surround speaker placement options

Hi guys, Moving house soon and for the first time will have more to work with than the usual open-plan TV/living room. I have in-ceiling speakers in my current setup, but I'm leaving them behind for the new owners. Need advice on whether to go with in-ceiling speakers in the new house, or...

    The Coffee Thread

Did anyone attend the Coffee & Chocolate expo at Montecasino? I was somewhat disappointed, considering the R150 cover charge. Some decent products available though at fair price.

    In ear recommendation

I use Bose QC20 most of the time. Not exactly what I'd call budget, but a good performer overall. Might be cumbersome under a helmet though. If you're not much interested in music, then a good set of custom-made earplugs will work great. That's what I used back in my biking days. Here's the...

Recommendations for a Stereo Integrated amp

I also didn't have the luxury of a purely stereo system, so opted for an integrated stereo amp to compliment my AVR. The Roksan Kandy K2 did a great job for a couple of years. Recently upgraded to a much beefier AVR with bi-amp capability so no longer have use for the Roksan. Mine is definitely...

Seattle in Menlyn also offers a decent cup and service. Unfortunately not enough seating during busy periods.

    The Coffee Thread

The coffee dries out if kept in a fridge, and additionally it absorbs odours from other produce stored in there as well. I heard from a barista that ground coffee can be frozen, but not indefinitely. Beans are best kept in an airtight container.

    The Coffee Thread

I find that a huge factor in the quality is the period of time between roast and consumption. I've noticed that the coffee beans you'll purchase in most supermarkets has a shelf life of 1 year. Better brands/suppliers have a 3 month shelf life. The roaster I buy from keeps beans on the shelf for...

Same problem with automatic machines when you select a long coffee. It just runs water through the beans until the cup is full.
