Focal releases new $800 Bluetooth headset

I suggest that you give Jerome – 076 874 3629 a shout and ask him to arrange with Andre in Cpt to get some demo pairs up to the Bedfordview branch of Epiphany for you to demo 😉

Focal releases new $800 Bluetooth headset

I find the Clear MG to be an outstanding all round performer. It has a slight bump in the bass but it does not bleed into the mids and highs but rather draws one into a very engaging listen. It does not have the clarity and high end extention of the berilium big brothers but also is by no means...

    Whats on the TT...

What i love about this hobby is how diverse our tastes are. I'm chilling with this sophomore outing by quiet storm legend Micheal Franks. The Joe Sample solos are special even if it's just jazzy pop and not the 'real deal' in the jazz circles. I must say that speakers corner did an...

Focal releases new $800 Bluetooth headset

I had the original Utopias which had amazing clarity and speed but the timbre was not to everyone's liking. Adding some dekoni pads provided some much needed sub bass and made them more balanced and less peaky. Have not heard the 22 model and does not look like it's coming in the 1st batch...

Focal releases new $800 Bluetooth headset

Hi All They are definitely closed back. I had a quick demo at Epiphany yesterday who are the new Focal distributer in SA and have stock en route. Certainly the best BT cans that I have heard. Very balanced across the board and sound signature is close to the Celeste which I also own and have...

    The Cape Town Hi-Fi Club

Malcolm in the 3rd row with the glasses and bok baartjie trying to figure out the greatest audiophile mystery of the last century ... SS vs Tubes ;) . For me it was also the valve amp all the way on the night. (y)

    Stax SR009

Well you are welcome to visit the mancave for a listening session and also to bring any of your goodies as well 😉

    Stax SR009

Fortunately the more entry level Stax range (L300/500/700) all have that Stax ES signature to varying degrees and sound great paired with a smaller energizer. Must admit that their looks are an acquired taste and those plastic rectangle bodies don't exactly inspire confidence but they are...

    Warped record

My apologies, I completely misunderstood and somehow did not see your link. Looks like a really well built device and certainly is in a whole new league . Looks very similar to the one from Furutech. Glad that you're getting good results. M

    Warped record

Good to know. Do you use the groovy pouch? I was using a very badly warped LP and it was probably beyond flattening.

    Warped record

Hi All Thought I'd share my journey thus far. Spoiler alert, NO SUCCESS yet ! I purchased the THE VINYL FLAT RECORD FLATTENER | Vinyl Flat + the Groovy pouch and also had to buy a 110 to 22V transformer as well. I was super enthusiastic to straighten those warped LP's that were driving me...

    Stax SR009

Welcome to the Stax club drifter. The WES + 009s still takes the cake in my headfi collection even though the Susvara + Ferrum stack is a close 2nd. Enjoy the many hours of sheer joy ! BTW, I still miss the bite (as you put it during our listening session) of the 009 vs the more refined...

    MC step up devices thoughts

I recently added a Phasemation T-500 to my ARC Phono Ref 3 and was pleasantly surprised with the step-up in performance.  There was a slight increase in clarity but the music just seemed to reveal more layers and seemed more robust.

    Humminguru Ultrasonic Cleaner

This was the same guy who got me interested in the 1st place  ;). You get what you pay for and at that price it definitely will not complete with the more expensive ultrasonic cleaners. At the price, it works for me but if you've got 5 to ten times more to spend on the higher end cleaners...

    Humminguru Ultrasonic Cleaner

It was nerve-racking and I had almost given up after waiting over a year, but fortunately this manufacturer honored their campaign and delivered this item  :winkwink: They were also very responsive to my emails and you can order directly from their website now with delivery via Fedex. The...

    Humminguru Ultrasonic Cleaner

Took a chance and signed up for the kickstarter campaign for this device: https://humminguru.com/pages/how-it-works It costs a fraction of the high end ultrasonic cleaners and is a great upgrade from the SpinClean that I used to use. Cleans very well with a marked improvement in the clarity...

iFI Zen Phono - Good 1st impressions

Would be interesting to compare it with the built in phono in my Anthem STR Pre but I have not had a chance to do that yet.

iFI Zen Phono - Good 1st impressions

Pic of the setup. Output from the Sugarcube is via either BNC or RCA to a pair of KEF LS50 WII and KC62 sub. KEF app is great for dialing in the 'room corrected' sound and also tweak the EQ on the fly depending on the mixing and mastering on the LP. Cheers

iFI Zen Phono - Good 1st impressions

Hi All I picked up a Project RPM3 Carbon and iFI Zen Phono for my home office (because one has to have a vinyl spinning tea break during the work from home workday ) It sounded quite good right out the gate with the Ortofon 2M Silver and the MM setting on the Zen, however the noise...
