    Interview with PSB's Paul Barton

Active Studio Monitors for PC Music

Thanks for your replies guys I've been doing a fair amount of web research..maybe too much..lol. I have started to think about maybe getting a decent set of bookshelf speakers instead of monitors. For an amplifier, I'm very curious about the T-amp or the Tripath Pc card that I've been reading...

    Which LCD?

I dont know if this will help, but I recently did quite a large amount of research into getting my LCD computer monitor and settled on the new Samsung 22 inch wide screen. All the reviews and tests I could find revealed that the Samsung for R3k was the best monitor to be had under R4.5k IMHO...

Active Studio Monitors for PC Music

Hi guys Thanks for the ideas. Kay, I dont have an old spare amp atm and also desktop real estate is pretty scarce, so I'm going to stick with getting actives I think. But I understand your point, going passive means you can get better speakers for the same price, and a dedicated amp will...

Active Studio Monitors for PC Music

Hi Kay I'm sure the Behnringer Truth are nice but are quite pricy at R4k for me. The highly appreciated Mackie and Dynaudio are also quite steep in price. I'm keen to stay under R2k, hope these will still be good compared the similiar priced Creative 2.1 systems. Thanks, cheers

Active Studio Monitors for PC Music

Thanks skinnyfat, both for the reply and the welcome back  :D The new design of the forum looks really good btw. These monitor speakers certainly have a more confidence inspiring look to them, compared to some PC speaker systems. The fact that they are "monitors" is less relevant to me, but...

Active Studio Monitors for PC Music

Hi everyone I thought I'd ask whether any of you have used or listened to active monitor speakers with your PC system for CD and mp3 listening? I am referring to something like these speakers by Behringer or M-Audio etc : http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHMS40 http://www.zzounds.com/item--MDOSP3...

hehe, I like the "wet behind the ears" status for newbies :) how about a Signal to noise ratio number a status;) or tweeter, mid range, bass reflex and wooofer.....and a banned user could be (de)ported

    Opinions on Pioneer system

Hi guys, thanks again for all the input At the moment I've got the PSB image T45, KEF iQ7, Wharfedale Evo2-30 and B&W 603 on my shortlist to try out. Of course the catch will be which amps or receivers I can try them with at the shops :? As for amps/receivers, its the usual suspects in the...

    Opinions on Pioneer system

Hi guys Thanks very much for all your input. I'll definitely need to do a lot of listening, since the proof of the pudding is in the eating :) I have trouble with the listen test comparisons since almost all the time, the equipment I want to compare it to, is in a different shop with a...

    Opinions on Pioneer system

Hi again guys Thanks for all your suggestions. I havent got the time, space or the tools (not to mention skill) to really get into a DIY speaker project, although I am sure it is possible to make great speakers for very little money this way. Budgetwise, I'm not limited to stay under R10k...

    Opinions on Pioneer system

Hi guys Thanks for the great forum, good to have a local place of discussion for this expensive hobby :) I've been reading up and shopping around for my first foray into the world of AV. I'm interested mostly in great audio performance for music listening, and the 5.1 DVD theatre features will...
