    Imports: Scott's Shipping Services

Thanks! I understand warranty-related issues will be for my account, but what happens if the item is damaged (or lost) in transit?

    Imports: Scott's Shipping Services

I would also be interested in something like eBay orders, and in addition whether one might be able to import from, for example, the UK or German Amazon sites? In addition, what about German or UK VAT? Would it be possible to deduct it when ordering from those countries?

    Your experience importing

It does not include duties or any other taxes. The VAT was R387.94 and was specified separately (base amount of R2519; with 10% added it is R2771; 14% of that is R387 - so it seems correct). The R380 is marked as an admin fee (I think it is sometimes also called a clearance fee or brokerage fee??).

I did ask for details regarding the fee, but only received a sentence (in caps) stating that the R380 is charged to EVERY CLIENT. I guess a nice round figure like R380 would be the minimum fee... (value of goods declared was about R2800).

Thanks - then I feel a bit better (probably remembering fees from a year or two ago).

What is the 'going rate' these days for a local admin fee/clearance fee? Not talking about VAT/duties or any other taxes, just the admin fee charged locally, when the actual courier fees have already been paid by the exporter? TNT Express charged me R380 recently, and I thought that was rather...

Rant & Rave - Audico Online

The did a free upgrade (of R1000+) on an out of stock item for me as well, after I already made use of the R750 off in the same transaction. Also really useful to find actual prices on a wide variety of audio items without having to email or call a dealer first.

I agree. I can't see how you can forget about something like the zoom function in an app for a magazine...

    AV Magazine on iPad

I have been refunded in full yesterday (no issues at all from the app store). Hopefully they can get the app and everything else sorted out at some stage.

Any indication when the zoom function will be fixed?

    AV Magazine on iPad

How do I enlarge the picture/text of AVSA Mag on an iPad (for easier reading)? I have tried the usual methods, but must surely be missing something extremely obvious... The app was updated on 27 Feb, but I cannot remember if this was an issue before the update as well. Second question for the...

Pearl Jam first 3 albums bundle on special on Pop-Market @ R652.28 ZAR !!!!!!!!!

There are a few sites mentioning an "informal" threshold of R500, below which goods can be imported duty free. Not sure how accurate that is, but it probably explains why no VAT was levied and thus also no service fee from the courier in some cases mentioned above (and in other cases I suppose...

Pearl Jam first 3 albums bundle on special on Pop-Market @ R652.28 ZAR !!!!!!!!!

It does sound about right. I suppose I was used to paying less at the post office - admittedly then it takes one to two months to get here, and was lucky two or three times when Pop Market delivered via courier. No idea how or why UPS avoided duties in the past. As for the change between the...

Pearl Jam first 3 albums bundle on special on Pop-Market @ R652.28 ZAR !!!!!!!!!

Did you guys have to pay anything extra? UPS sent me a bill for VAT (R110.88) and a disbursement fee (R119,70). With the R740 odd for the original purchase, this brings the cost to about R970... I don't mind the VAT, but not so sure about the "disbursement fee" if shipping had been prepaid by...
