    Mark Knopfler - Guitar Stories

Is this on Tidal? Can only see a 1996 remix and then compilation albums sans pedigree.

Means the MOVs inside blew, that at least meant it offered a degree of protection yes. Better to install surge arrestors in the DB than on appliances (and cheaper) and as proved by many in this thread, lightning strikes are only protected for mild surges from faraway strikes. For a close or...

    How do you know that?

    Wolverine Slow Build

Thanks for the update, I'll definitely spend a few bucks with them. The chip shortage is all but over, any current issues should be rather chip designs that were axed in the meantime and have no direct substitute and require some design revision for a replacement. Connex I know well but I...

Jeepers I never heard of these Sami guys. If they can produce OEM volumes I may use them for some of my designs..

    The dreaded LG TV issue

For my 65C7 I got notification of a PSU recall and the guys came and replaced the PSU free of charge. Might be related.

    on-line scam

I had no issues with Temu aside from the fact that a hell of a lot of money is going straight to China at a penalty of local retailers, but money talks and pockets are tight. Buffalo and its affiliates are inundated with orders so there are some delays but it's not a scam. There's plenty of...

    Trusted Repairer/Tweaker database

Fair enough and totally agreeable. However, I would feel that we have sadly arrived at a difficult junction for this thread. To explain: we have a "bad experiences with couriers" where unreliable, neglective and of general ill repute businesses are outed, but good ones endorsed (and often...

    Help - Lightening Strike

All these surge protectors do is add passive ESD clamps. These are usually anyway included in (good) designs and adding more of them can actually cause signal loss because of the lumped capacitance. The capacitance problem is also why the amount of protection is finite, they can clamp high...

    Trusted Repairer/Tweaker database

So we have a trusted repairer index here, only to know one of them actually is not to be trusted. Is this Cluedo? Repairer X in location Y with a candlestick? This post pretty much invalidated the entire thread for anyone looking for a reputable repair.

Denon AVR USB port fault please help

It's less likely with USB host devices to fail than slave devices since the slaves are usually connected to PC hosts that can inject all sorts of ESD hell on the USB port, but nonetheless I suspect a hardware failure based on your description if you already ruled out issues of drive and file...

Lovely upgrade path! How do you like the Anthem? I have the same one for half a year now. Somehow it's not gelling as well for me as my old Marantz did, but most owners disagree.

    Help - Lightening Strike

HDMI is not isolated, that's the primary problem. You should have the same with USB had they all been connected with that. Isolated like Ethernet solves a lot of problems (and introduces a lot of its own).

    Meridian 568 Bypass

I kept values all the same except in a few places where I was certain it would not adversely affect the sound. Of course I used selective brands based on application.

    Meridian 568 Bypass

I used the 568 only for HT and not stereo so did not critically evaluate, the changes were more as a sweeping method and to increase longevity. I think there were improvements but whether it's worth the risk and cost is unclear. Depends also how long and how warm it ran over its lifespan.

    Meridian 568 Bypass

Simple, it's a great, compact and versatile preamp for all kinds of applications and I sold it for only a few shekels to declutter, but should have just kept it for all kinds of purposes.

    Meridian 568 Bypass

Nope, I sold my 568 many years ago as well although I definitely shouldn't have.

    Meridian 568 Bypass

If the DSP is the magic I would rather use the digital outputs to outboard DACs of choice. Can't remember though if all the DSP settings such as gain applied to them as they were intended to be used with Meridian speakers where the settings were communicated via a side channel and locally...

    Meridian 568 Bypass

Wow such a blast from the past. This was probably the best processor I ever had, including my modified Marantz AV8801 and current Anthem AVM70. Going on what I read in my own post the volume control is a combination of software within the DSP and hardware at the DAC output so there is no simple...

    Moya M1- Vivid on Steroids

*kots* Look at 4:39, their own bloody prototype has suffered the same abuse as so many owners did.. fortunately your Rands will now include an actual grille on the final product so it MUST be a 5star product with such space-age innovation.
