Chip Quik low melt solder has been used in my workshop for over 35 years. Great for use on old PCBs and SMD rework jobs. Amtech flux is by far the best in it's field and as mentioned Chemwick desolder braid. Expensive, yes but gets the job done right the first time.

I work on SMD equipment daily. Your problem is the heatsink PCB track under the IC is damaged. This can be fixed but will not be a lasting solution.

You have to drill out the rivets, clean the interior parts with Isoproponyl alcohol. Use two part Pratley quickset glue for re assembly. I've used this procedure for years with excellent results.
