What was the last Film you watched?

Warcraft 2D Late Sunday night at Pavilion. I'm not certain if the focus was correct. I have better picture quality at home. Storyline OK - Never played the game. Definitely one for plenty of sequels.

    The Coffee Thread

Great thread guys1 I used a Krups manual machine for a number of years until it gave up the ghost. I then moved on to a cheapie Boardmans machine (also manual). Used a Krups burr grinder for years, even had to bypass the safety switch when that gave in. Recently I became more lazy and moved...

PC based Bluray vs standalone unit

Your valued input would be appreciated. What are the pros and cons of going the PC route with a BDROM drive and HDMI display card versus a standalone Blu-ray player. In terms of: 1. Cost 2. Audio quality 3. Video quality 4. Upgradability I've been contemplating replacing my Sony BDP-S370...

If you are not commited to the 2 you suggested, I recommend giving the NAD T758 a listen. I got mine a few months ago (thanks Judy), and I'm enjoying my movie collection again.

    Identify the driver?

Interesting issues raised, thanks. A bit more background. I purchased the pair of mx1's cheap thinking it was quite a bargain as the cabinets were in great shape. The one driver has indeed been replaced, and now after spending some time listening, it seems like the other speaker with the...

    Identify the driver?

Pulled this out of a Tannoy mercury mx1. Very little to go on. No markings! Quite hefty for such a small driver. Any ideas? Thanks

    Best Sounding Blu-ray Movie

Just finished watching "Oz the Great and Powerful", a bit dated, but the 7.1 really impressed. Had the whole room shaking especially the tornado scene.

    Buesound vs Sonos

I just love my Sonos setup. 3 x Connect:Amp and 1 x Connect feeding speakers in the entertainment areas. I feel the 24bit playback is a non-issue. I don't believe anyone would use Sonos or Bluesound for critical listening.

Take a permanent black marker to them and you won't see the dent. It might even improve the looks.

    NAD 5020A repair/refurb

Yahoo! Turns out that all the motor needed was a bit of lubrication. PQSound also received a few more belt sizes including the one I was looking for. Needless to say, it's all put together again and singing. Still a few adjustments required, but none the less up and running.

    Stereo only room

Thanks everyone for the comments. The stereo system will probably be the first piece of furniture in the room, so I will be able to experiment a bit. Done some reading on the diagonal layout and although it has merits, it may be a bit impractical in my situalion. This will be a dedicated...

    Stereo only room

Thanks, but not much chance of moving tv in there. AV / HT room is accomodating tv and projector. Need loads of space for watching rugby and movies. Diagonal setup may be a problem. What about wall hangings or panels? Speakers are large standmounts Mission 702 driven by Rotel RB-991 beast...

    Stereo only room

Having a few renovations done at home and the wife has generously allocated a small (3m x 3m) room for my stereo only system. My question is whether this space is practical or whether I should just stay with a larger room housing my AV and stereo systems together?
