Guys, 685's are front ported which makes placement much easier than a rear ported speakers. I dont think you can go wrong with them.

what about the filament voltage difference, will that converter take care of that?

Charles, read up on the 6n2p-ev,one seller said "Close by characteristics to the ECC83, 6CC42, 12AX7. They have the same pinout only the filament is 6.3V" What converter would one use when fitting them in an amp that demands 12ax7's
