    5 kW system

DOD of 20% at 0.2C is optimal for most of these kinds of batteries. The suggestion of 40% Dod is so that you have enough power left over to get you through the evening until solar can start charging them again without running flat over night. Well in anycase that is my take away from Powerforum

Speakers for an Exclamé 100 in a big room

Should have grabbed those Vivid V1.5s that just got sold. I am in my second house with the Exclame and Vivids both houses double volume and I have zero complaints.

    5 kW system

Well that depends. If we use a 10 year write off period which Im guessing is a fair usage term. And you are selling the house after 9 years of having the system it will be more valuable leaving the system to boost the sales price and re buying a new system than taking a system that you probably...

    5 kW system

yes. General consensus is around 4%. So over capitalization is possible. Assuming you use a 5mil home you wil get a 200k value add. So if you put a 200k system in a 2.5mil home you wont see the capital recouped when selling. BUT combine the Eskom savings, the value add to your property and the...

Installation of Inverter and Batteries in Living Area

Best to ask the installer as they would be issuing the COC. If the installer can not or will not issue a COC it should be a red flag.

Installation of Inverter and Batteries in Living Area

Well the buzz stops when Im not pulling massive power and the fans stop when the inverter is at optimal temp. Its much quieter than an air fryer. Hard to give you a comparison. Id say half the noise a microwave makes. But keep im mind my system is pretty large so its not working at full capacity...

Installation of Inverter and Batteries in Living Area

So the noise really isnt an issue for me on the Sunsynks. I run the 12kw 3phase and honestly dont notice the noise. Its in my garage but I spend 8 hours a day in there with it. The only time it sings is when I pull really heavy loads and it is a very hot day. Then you can hear it buzz and the...

    Inverter Problems- Help please!

Surge protector as the first module entry into the board and if you have pre paid another one on the outside box pre the prepaid meter. Those little pre paid things are pricey and they take a beating with the load shedding and you are stuck if it goes. Thats the most you can do for your setup.

Really understanding the difference between 5kw and 8kw system

The rand per KW cost for the Sunsynks are pretty much equal. Meaning cost of 8kw devided by 8 vs cost of 5kw devided by 5 is darn well the same. Or use to be a few months back. Bigger is usually better in this case. We have three phase power and the options were 3xtimes 5kv or 1x12kv three...

Solar system rental: a viable option?

Ok so not pro or anti the rental option. Its deffo a good deal and might even be a better call than buying. I see everyone is singing the praises of remote monitoring and support. After initial setup assuming you have a half decent inverter. There is nothing to monitor. It just works. And these...

    Embarking on Solar Stuffs......

If there are panels on the roof that generates power its of relevance to them. Why I cannot tell you. But the engineering sign offs are a few k’s City of Cape Town Link

    Embarking on Solar Stuffs......

Main thing to look out for is that the Inverter is on Cape Town approved inverter list otherwise you will not get approval from COT when you put panels on. Victron and Sunsynk and a bunch other are on the list. Secondly decent installers wont touch a grey import - if it breaks or something goes...

    Drill Press Purchase

Ok so I make knives for a living. So I drill often. Metal and wood. Thickest metal I work is 25mm. Wood 60mm. Accuracy and repeatability is important to me. The problem you have in South Africa is that under 12k the drill presses are basically all the same most of them from the same factories in...

    GoSolr 8kW (Large option) install

Wow. That is well done. Keep in mind that with current increases that number will compound over time. You can build a very nice small system to avoid loadshedding. Something like a Sunsynk inverter and a Revov second life battery. From there on if you are happy with just avoiding loadshedding...

    GoSolr 8kW (Large option) install

Also keep in mind that there is a yearly inflation related increase on the monthly subscription fee. The concept is not designed for you to save monthly eskom money but to protect you from loadshedding and to buffer you from eskoms future price increases. But the reality is if you dont have the...

    Which one?

Hi Guys. Both these fall inside the budget. Max I can go is R16k. Would love to do a proper Oled but thats just not happening. Between new houses, av stands and inverter systems this is it. Granted I am still on a 2009 LG flatscreen 43 inch so I suspect either of these will do just fine. LG...
