I'd like to replace my electric hob with a gas hob, however I have to move my stove isolator to get CoC. I was told that my stove isolator needs to be blanked off and moved 20cm to the side of the hob*. It's currently 20cm above my electric hob. Moving the isolator to the side is going to be a massive undertaking as I don't have any spare kitchen tiles for them to chase it in the wall. So before I go down that route, I'm wondering if I should fit an induction hob instead. Of course it's not ideal with load shedding, but my concern is more around whether it would allow for fine-grained heat control? Would I be able to simmer foods or do induction hobs go "full tilt" easily? Anyone tried both at their homes and prefer gas?

*I skimmed over the gas regs and it indicates 20cm clearance is needed, without specifying if that means vertically and/or horizontally. However there's a diagram in there that suggests it's 20cm of horizontal clearance.
