    Balanced XLR inputs

Steerpike I go on to further elaborate on my statement: Now that sounds pretty "hostile" to me but hey, take from that what you will. But you know what? I am not going to argue over this. I said my piece and that's pretty much all I think that I can really add to this conversation. Life is too...

    Balanced XLR inputs

Lol, I didn't make this a studio conversation, I merely said that balanced makes more sense when you are monitoring more than one source [emoji4] I also think that in general, balanced cabling is just shielded and constructed better than your average consumer cable so you get the added benefit...

    Balanced XLR inputs

I only buy studio gear so pretty much everything is wired up balanced, I wouldn't even consider unbalanced, the very thought of it bugs me [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Balanced XLR inputs

Excuse me? Please explain to me why you think that a studio or a live scenario should run on unbalanced cables? I am very interested in hearing your thoughts on this. In a living room you're going to be listening to one source, in a studio it could be 10 or 20, live it will be way more. Now...

    Balanced XLR inputs

Balanced is really for solutions where you'll be monitoring a lot of inputs all at once, in a hifi solution thats simply not going to happen.

    Rega Planet Acos issues

Thanks Ludo, I downloaded the spec sheet which mentions it needs a 6.8k 2.5, been searching for awhile now but I haven't found anything that looks similar. I found this which is a wire wound cement 10w resistor - http://www.communica.co.za/Catalog/Browse?cId=5f619fd6f080478691429d91da382c4e&pN=6...

    Rega Planet Acos issues

They do but I am planning on using nylon washers seated on rubber grommets for the top and the bottom of the mounts (i'll take some pics when I get home). Its infinitely better now than how the deck came, the motor was just hard mounted straight to the plinth, no insulation whatsoever. I see...

    Rega Planet Acos issues

Thanks for the info. This motor is a 110v motor. @Ludo, do you know if this is the old or newer motor? I think its the older motor.

So it looks like the 15k resistor is just too much. The new motor spins (significantly quieter thankfully) but the torque is just not there. You can spin it up by hand but that just annoys me :D Before I get shouted at again, this I suspect is the correct resistor...

    Lenco B52 Project

Just an update. The B52 is up and running and she's a pretty one :) The B52 tonearm has that droopy end piece which after looking around quite a bit, I couldn't actually find out a reason why Lenco did this to both the B52 and L75 tonearms? So I decided to stiffen the arm with a plastic...

    Electronics 101

Yeah I am starting to realise that a component can do many things, not just one, makes it all a little more challenging. Well I bought my 1st starter kit and decided to go with www.riecktron.co.za, they do all the sparkfun stuff which seems to be pretty encompassing :) nice website as well and...

    Vinyl vs Digital for Newbie

And something that a lot of people haven't mentioned is the joys of crate digging or playing Indiana Jones at a vinyl fair. Personally I like my records new BUT I still get excited finding a long forgotten gems that I used to listen to as a kid. Of course I have that album on CD or as a digital...

    Vinyl vs Digital for Newbie

For me its about the whole process of buying vinyl, placing it on a turntable and listening to the entire album. There's jus something deeply satisfying about watching a well engineered turntable spilling out music. Digital is just dead for me. I think its the difference between a great whiskey...
