VALVE AMPS - How important is ventilation?

Unfortunately I can't edit the message I posted (not allowed by forum software), so here is the picture of Pyramid-VII

VALVE AMPS - How important is ventilation?

Sources of heat are tubes, resistors, transformers. Tubes are cooled by radiation, the rest by radiation and convection. You can cool bulbs by a forced air, but you can't cool anodes such a way: there is vacuum inside of them, and of course convection does not work in vacuum. If you build a...

Is this what analogue is all about????

Here is a couple of CDs recorded using a pair of mikes for stereo: http://www.amazon.com/Norris-Quartet-Turney/e/B000APYLP0/ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_2?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1279727921&sr=8-2...

Is this what analogue is all about????

For FM broadcast they always had and have compressors. They compress any material. The question is, why CDs sound better when compressed?

Is this what analogue is all about????

You can get theoretically pristine precision sampling, and 48 bit 1 megaherz rate, but still you need mic preamp(s) and power amp(s). They are devices that need to have the biggest power amplification. That means, speaking of voltage amplification they need linear and frequency independent input...

Is this what analogue is all about????

You could not understand more, since the article looks as if it explains something, but actually it is a marketing BS for selling of effect boxes. The author either does not know some essential details, or knows but hides them in order to promote the production that add distortions. He uses...

    Which one to build?

I don't know costs of manufacturing in SA, but if they are below US costs it would be possible to cover expenses by exporting to USA and Europe.

    Which one to build?

Hmmm... Why South Africa can't produce similar kits locally? Anyway all parts come to USA from China and Russia. Do you have some PCB manufacturing? Chassis?

    Why MONO?!

By the way, hard left / hard right stereo at the beginning had simple explanation: audio engineers did not like level panned stereo, it sounds artificially. Also, recording gear was not equipped with pan control, only switches: "left", "right", and "mono".

    SANSUI AU111 valve amplifier service

Thank you! :) Now, let's wait for Experts to explain Miracles. But anyway I doubt that Sansui amp needs a standby switch: it can't be a selling feature anymore. ;)

    SANSUI AU111 valve amplifier service

Relax; it is a myth that come to audio from army radars and powerful broadcast radio transmitters. Voltages and current densities in indirectly heated tubes used for audio (even the bigest ones like KT-120 and GU-50) are not enough to cause such effects. What SANSUIs are famous of, are myriads...
