That will cost more than an integrated with remote which at this point seems to be the cheapest/easiest option, the power amp can sit in the cupboard till it's needed again.

Thanks, those are all decent options but ideally I'm looking for something that's not too expensive or else I may as well just buy an integrated amplifier with a remote. I forgot to mention the DAC has a volume control, the problem is I need a way to control the volume via a remote.

My TV can't change the volume if you select optical output, other than getting an AVR what other options are there that would allow me to control the volume via a remote? I have the TV connected via optical to a DAC and the outputs of that to a power amp.

At this point I want to first try cleaning the pot and see if that helps, anyone have any advice on what I can try? I have added some pics of the pot to the op. I think it might be a custom part because it's got unique spacings between the notched sections and Google doesn't bring anything up...

I have a notched rotary encoder on a piece of equipment that's used to change program types so it's controlling digital parameters and it's not changing correctly. The encoder is sealed, it's one of these new kind of plastic body pot. Is there any method to opening them to try cleaning them?
