    Aiwa LX-70 Replacement Belt

Sorry for the delay in any response. I haven't logged in to the board for quite some time. In answer to your question, no I haven't sorted this out. Life... Anyway, no excuses because I want to get this unit working as it should but I think it will have to be a project for 2024. It plays...

WeBuy Hi Fi - Cape Town

I can't fault him on his delivery of the product I purchased from there two years ago. It arrived safely and was well wrapped and padded. I did however have to open up the CD player and repair the little switch which holds the tray out because it kept going back in on its own. Fortunately it was...

    Quad 33/303 Issue

Thank you for saying that, mygoggie but I must say it was a slap on the forehead moment for me when I realized my error. I'm just very glad it all worked out in the end and I have again learned a lot by doing by so. Happy listening!

    Quad 33/303 Issue

Hi mygoggie, Embarrassing to admit but obviously I lost my train of thought at some point and I opposed polarities on the smoothing caps... I am a very careful worker but a complete novice and although I took my time with this project I still somehow made this mistake. Not the average mistake...

    Quad 33/303 Issue

Hi there, Alright, I managed to figure out what I did wrong. I spent all night last night going over it all in my head. It was a stupid mistake which fortunately only cost me a blown fuse. I've since tested voltages, etc. (all correct) and have had the amplifier up and running for the whole...

    Quad 33/303 Issue

Well, it seems as though I've done something wrong... Over the past month or so I've been rebuilding each board in the Quad from scratch. I even picked up brand new blank board which I must say, are very well made. After taking my time and ensuring everything was connected up correctly (or so...

    Mullard 5-10 Journey

A beautiful job. Thank you for sharing. My Dad recently told me about his experiences building one of these when he was growing up in the UK.

    Quad 33/303 Issue

Hi all, I used to have a photograph of the amplifier boards which I believe came from the original service manual for the Quad 303 but rather than naming each component on the board, it included instead the values of each component, for instance whether it is a 2K2 resistor, etc. This included...

    Quad 33/303 Issue

Hi there, Not as yet. I've been away from home quite a lot too so I just haven't had the chance to dive into this project. Thank you for asking though. I will keep you posted and if I have any further questions I hope you won't mind me asking.

    Quad 33/303 Issue

Thank you for your advice. Alright, I'll start with that. As stated earlier, I replaced all the resistors and transistors and electrolytic caps about 3 years ago but I suppose things can go wrong with them. The ones I did not replace are the two large resistors at the back of the board marked...

    Quad 33/303 Issue

Hi there, Thank you for your response and advice, Family_Dog. I appreciate it. I understand the DC-offset drifts a bit and certainly can cause the output transistors to heat up if incorrectly set but what is stumping me too is the continual "buzz" on that channel no matter what I do. I...

    Quad 33/303 Issue

It seems I celebrated too soon and with too much gusto because the exact same issue as previously mentioned in this post has started up again. What I can't understand is that the amp ran perfectly for a whole week before starting to buzz again on the right channel. There were no signs of the...

    RIP

So long to a great composer. My introduction to him was his work on the soundtrack for "The Last Emperor". I was seven years old at the time of its release but I was very moved by his musical contribution to that film, and remain so to this day. A very sad bit of news indeed.
