    Wooden window frames

Add turps to the first coat. It aids in the product getting into the wood.

    Wooden window frames

Wow, this is a throwback. I tried Rubbol and Rystix. Settled on Rystix. Far cheaper and works great - wood still looks new.

Looking for car detailer JHB / South

If you decide on DIY, I'd recommend you go for Turtle Wax over Meguiars. They've been knocking it out of the park in recent years. I strongly prefer their "Ceramic Wet Wax" spray (yellow graphic label) over their "Ceramic Spray" (green graphic label). The former is MUCH easier to apply and can...

    JHB Cable Listening Experiment

I've skimmed this thread and commend those who arranged and partook in this experiment. It's not easy having one's beliefs put to the test, especially when they are formed over several years. I wonder whether the origin story for many staunch cable believers involves their younger, more...

    Gas vs. Induction Hobs

I'm still enjoying the gas hob I fitted. The flame select feature on the Bosch hob works brilliantly. I had a standalone induction hob for a bit and didn't enjoy it. Same as @leonpjhb above - Minimum heat was all over the place and the unit was noisy.

    Gas vs. Induction Hobs

Thanks guys. I've bought the Bosch gas hob. Just waiting on installation.

    Gas vs. Induction Hobs

Thanks all. Appreciate the advice. I've spoken to gas installers and I can indeed blank off the stove isolator and relocate it to a cupboard. So gas is an option again. I'm torn between induction (80cm Built-in induction hob with 4 flexible cooking zones - IKB84431FB) and gas (BOSCH -...

    Gas vs. Induction Hobs

I'd like to replace my electric hob with a gas hob, however I have to move my stove isolator to get CoC. I was told that my stove isolator needs to be blanked off and moved 20cm to the side of the hob*. It's currently 20cm above my electric hob. Moving the isolator to the side is going to be a...

    Latent Defects

Not a great look for Whirlpool, but it sounds like you've gotten 2 years of use from the microwave following your warranty claim and 3 years overall. Post about your experience online and get rid of the microwave... Out of sight, out of mind. In the grander scheme of things, it sadly just...

    basic fridge/ freezer

Also agree on Bosch for home appliances. I've become a fan (or maybe brand snob) - even my toaster is Bosch. And don't pay attention to sales talk at the store such as "parts are more readily available for Defy". Yeah sure, and I was grateful for it because my Defy appliances broke so often...

How new cars trick you with pre-recorded engine noise

Staying on theme for this forum, Hans Zimmer helped design the sounds for the BMW i4. Here's the marketing blurb: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNpeuQFfSlE and what it actually sounds like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PPnuy0AYZ8&t=341s

How new cars trick you with pre-recorded engine noise

It's been the case for quite some time. I really don't think it's the worst thing in the world for daily driven cars, but I my priorities aren't geared towards how cars sound outside (i.e. largely how they sound for others). Sure, I would laugh at a 1L engine sounding like a V8, but no sane...
