NOT A GRIPE POST: Why are you leaving SA?

I could list the usual reasons but the crux of it comes down to whether we think it will ever get “better” here. We don’t have strong ties to friends/family here as most “school” friends and even newer friends have emigrated LONG ago (38 yrs old). We see plenty more opportunity elsewhere, both...

    Hellmans Mayo

The stuff we were getting recently just wasn’t the same as what we used to get. When I mate that lives in the UK asked me “want me to bring you anything?” and I replied “hellmans light mayo please” he thought I was nuts but it was really worth it. I compared the ingredients to the local stuff...

What to do with old plasma TV?

Came across this thread as I have a Samsung 42C430 and a PS51D550 and I'm wondering what to do with them. Not sure if the 42 is still worth anything and my son uses the 51 sometimes. Maybe I should use the 42 as a patio heater.

Yay!!! E-commerce is now allowed for all items @level4

Received emails from a few stores yesterday, incl Takealot which is like 90% of "eCommerce" in SA. From my understanding it's ALL products except liquor and alcohol. I think the couriers will be extremely busy today... Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

    fun during lockdown

Was a nick on IRC and with a bunch of compsci colleagues. Pretty much all had extended last syllables and a touch of leetspeak (133t5p34k) in our names. When my girlfriend joined she became known as rorzwh0re [emoji44] Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

Commercial Landlords / Property Managers (Covid 19)

The problem is if every company pays suppliers as much as they can manage then ultimately everything is stretched so thin that every company is at breaking point, and if you've been "good" at organising to pay as much as possible you have 0 leaway and will be the first to go past breaking point...

    Office Chair Recommendations

I love my Aeron. My wife has the ergotherapy netone high back which I've seen often recommended as a cheaper option (6.5 vs 8.5). The Netone is more adjustable but the Aeron just feels a whole lot more stable and "metal". The best way of course would be to try them for yourself. Sent from my...

    Wealth Number

I'd say I'm a 5, and maybe if things go really well in my 30s/40s could get to a 6 one day. Salaried jobs will likely never get past a 6. The two directors where I work are a "recent 7" and an "almost 8". That's a pretty significant jump between bands. It would be quite easy to fluctuate...

Getting hold of a Takealot seller

Sometimes if you contact support they will refer a question to the 3rd party. Otherwise they don't really let you contact the purchaser, all you ever see as the seller is their first name and last name when they make an order. Googling the name is your best bet.

    Paradox Security

I've bought a fair amount of stuff from http://alarmtec.co.za/ and always had good service. Their prices are pretty good, based on comparing the dealer pricelist from Spectrum with theirs. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

    Binoculars?

I have that same model Nikon. Lugged it all the way around the world in Dec and used it once. Recently visited a family friends game farm and he handed me his binoculars to take a closer look at something and I had a look and was like "holy shit these are amazing". They were 8x42 Leica which I...
