    Maybe a stupid question

Anybody else worried about having exposed banana plugs at the other end of a Pro power amp?  :o This is why we use "safe" plugs like the spekon in the pro industry.

Its roumered to have componetnt 720i and Digital out, the unit has three tuners two for viewing and one for recording. whatever it is it'll be better than the units that are currently avaliable

    Split and Amplify TV signal

The picture will look milky because you are changing the load impeadance of the decoders video output, which decoder do you have? cant you use the scart outs to link to the DVD recoder, the 720 dual and pvr have these connections. You can also use the s-video to you local tv set or amp/processor

    Split and Amplify TV signal

You should be using a Distribution amplifier to "split" the outputs of a DSTV decoder, using a Y split affects the impeadance of the output and messes up the audio levels and the picture brightness, I use Kramer devices they are top notch. Also look out the video outputs of older decoders...

    Split and Amplify TV signal

If the signal at the master point is bad you should look at a masthead amplifier as they amplify less noise as they are closer to the arial giving less grain. Also try different positions of the arial sometimes you can have great signal on one side of the roof and almost none on another. If you...

    Homeautomation

Yea but my point is that it is within reach, you dont have to be a millionare. These systems are all about lifestyle, the way you want to live, the priorty is a matter of opinion. Most people thought I was nuts buying a pair of R35k speakers but for me it was a worthwhile investment and I really...

    Homeautomation

This technology exists now, only a select few can afford it but its getting more affordable as the RND expenses get paid for. A smart home just makes sence, if the average cost of a working class home is +/-R850,000 spending R50,000 is not totally out of reach.

    Homeautomation

Bryd2 you have your mind in the rights place, and everything you mention could be programmed for however i would think the fridge woudl be a more worthy investment. FYI EIB controlled fridges can be connected to the automation system, with a bit of pipe, stickytape and of blu draad it could also...

    Homeautomation

The thing is the better automation systems are two way thanks to RS232 and other protocals, so its possible to information from devices to add to the argument. Information from the alarm can be used to trigger lights when you enter the room, or when a device looses power the system can indicate...

    DSTV Gripes

I have heard that the new decoder will be a Pacer, the old ones let you sort the channels. This one should have Ypbr Sv and Cv, spdif and a LAN out to dump the moives on the harddisk, about time we had a decient decoder avaliable pity about the content.

    DSTV Gripes

Its wonderfull >:(, every automated home has to be reprogrammed to match the new numbers, not that the PVR codes are avaliable in RC5 anyway.

    Homeautomation

Yes, you would be able program arguments that would allow the system to "think", its really just following the programmers thought process in code form and comparing temperature, weather, time of day, ambent lights ect to get a particular result under those conditions. This type of automation...
