I have a Noco GB40 and it's worked as intended numerous times. Build quality is great. I went straight for Noco because I was concerned about the longevity of the cheaper models. Expensive, yes. Happy, yes.
How I don’t know, but with a bit of fiddling I have finally gotten the Raspberry Pi with Volumio to work a little more consistently.

Volumio does seem far easier to setup and worked for a while but while tying this message, Spotify on my phone lost connection/does not show my Rasberry Pi anymore. I'll read some more but it was so simple to setup initially.

I've done a fresh install, managed to get the output via USB/DAC from audio on the Pi but not from Raspotify. At least I know I got the hardware settings correct. Now on to Raspotify.
Thanks Gavinbirss, I will try that one again. I did follow it previously and found the /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf to edit. That's when I got the sound to go to HDMI. I must have mixed up the card numbers.
I tried editing various configuration files (/boot/config.txt and an alsa.config file) as per various tutorials online and changed the settings to the card number of the USB sound device. As mentioned previously, I managed (by mistake) to send audio via HDMI to my TV.
