Hi all. I eventually took the amp in. They replaced the codec. Works like a charm now. No more problems.

thanks for the feedback guys.... yes the sub is set to activate when a LFE is sent to it, however even if i set it to be on permanently it does not always have sound.  i can get it to work eventually and then power the amp off and on again and its dead again, I cycle through a few sound options...
