Not strictly true, they are a sub-distributor, like the others mentioned. In KZN your best bet is AAW Electronics.  The locally produced Magnum range of irons uses Plato tips.  Wellers are different.

As such, if it is doing most things right under control of the microprocessor, it's mostly either a sensor dodgy, or a control output to the return control function that is amiss.  So I wouldn't loose heart just yet.

Got mine from the local Builders, its Powafix.  They are all pretty much the same I reckon.  You still have to use a bit of elbow grease.  What would be great if these was some cordless drill fixture that would slip over the RCA with a pad of sorts.  So yeah, a bit fiddly.

Thanks for this tip.  :2thumbs:  I had tried everything short of battery acid on my '79 Aiwa front panel, and was not happy with the end result. This, however, did the trick wonderfully.  It also works wonders on those dull RCA's on the back, followed by a thin coat of lube cleaner to protect...

Or go and buy one of those efergy energy monitoring sockets thingies from Builders, then you can measure the actual consumption of the devices, and add it all up to give your total. Useful for determining who are really the energy hogs around the house too.
