Flac vs alac, iTunes vs JRiver

There shouldn't be a difference unless the medium can't support the bandwidth of what you're trying to play. If that happens then buffering woukd keep the quality the same or the program might throttle quality to get it to play.

Flac vs alac, iTunes vs JRiver

It might be the media players Nd their codecs giving you the difference. The whole reason for those formats is to be lossless so either there's a difference in their source or there's a difference in how they're being played. In general I stick with the open formats for compatibility reasons...

Hardware question for the networking gurus

Give it a try. If it needs the fan then you'll feel it quickly. I did this with an HP switch I had and let's say that there's a fan for a reason.

Old Mutual "Money market savings account"

Ask the financial services board for their opinion. They would know best

    Marantz AirPlay

Is airplay active on the marantz? On my previous sr7005 I had to activate airplay separately. Your modem doesn't have to support bonjour, it's merely a conduit for traffic so as long as it's not blocking any traffic (which it shouldn't and I can't actually think how it would on a local network)...

    VGA -DVI Converter

What you're talking about is the difference between dvi-d and dvi-i. Most graphics cards have the dvi-i output which sends both analogue and digital signals. The analogue part is what is needed for the adaptor.

    Buying from OLX, tips

I'd avoid any deals you can't do face to face and give cash once you're happy that the item is working. Most of the scampers go quiet when you insist on that

Couch Repair scam - any advise?

Don't let things like this get away unreported by thinking its not worth it, it just fuels their endeavours. Report him everywhere you can, you never know what could happen and where karma can come back to bite him. I'd open a case at the police first and then take the case number to the fraud...

Yowsers. . stumbled across this link and now my head hurts. Tuning the music??

What a load of nonsense. I hate it when they try bring real science into these made up things. Quoting Einstein doesn't make up for the fact that there's no scientific process followed

You missed out on the Sony xperia z1 compact. Go ahead and compare with the iPhone. (Similar size and build quality and has a better camera)

Getting music to play with as much depth as movies?

I know I'm necroing my own thread here but I thought I'd give feedback on this particular issue as I've managed to solve it, albeit by accident. The problem as it turned out was the speaker configuration in Windows. I thought that when I was passing audio through the hdmi to my receiver that it...
