    need help sourcing quality parts

4700uf 100v caps should be fine.  In an AC amp it is preferable to replace slightly higher either in uF or V as it gives the amp more head room. I was looking to replace some 10000uF caps a while back and ended up ordering Elna Caps, very pleased with the result as I ended up going for 10000uF...

Hi David. Yes running passive through the kits crossovers..  Powered by an old 1978 JVC JR-S501, Very smooth, natural sounding amp believe it or not..  Into 4 ohms she can do about 230W RMS but am only running the focals @ about 50W when turning them up. There is no sub attached to this...

    Focal KR-165 book shelf build.

Thanks to Chris from PQ Sound for sponsoring some sound deadening matt to the project. Initially I put a piece of deadening on the back board only but am going to change\reduce this as it has surprisingly taken away a fair bit of mid-range.. the drivers are now properly well run in and will be...

Thanks for the suggestion Atjan.  Honestly I have always been led to believe that it is only necessary to "clad" sealed cabinets.  As you said if it doesn't sound good, I can just pull it out.  I will give it a go and report back. I have a bit of time on my hands at the mo, so back to sanding...
