    Celestion F-Series - Any experiences?

I was aware of this - just look at the RX-V350 amp that gets thrown around so much. Personally, with a lot of my products, when I buy, I like to buy new, not just for warrantees, but for the new smell that comes with the box. An expensive habit... ;) Seriously, the main reason for buying new is...

Funniest thing you've heard from a Hi-Fi salesperson?

How about that, in order to have decent sound out of a subwoofer, the R500 Monster sub cable is vital as it's so thick and allows the current to cleanly pass to the sub. I just didn't have the strength to tell him that thickness really means nothing with line level interconnects, just shielding...

    Celestion F-Series - Any experiences?

Hey, apparently, Denon and Marantz are made in the same factory or close enough (so I hear through the grapevine). And I'm not buying bi-wire, triple core, platinum, diamond-encrusted, 42 guage wire for this range - my dad has more than enough decent wire from his old set that will work just...

    Celestion F-Series - Any experiences?

Hmm, what got me was the difference in price for Sennheiser headpones between Cavendish and Canal Walk. That tainted me that anything bought there would be more expensive (read: rip-off). Okay, maybe I'm being harsh, but I've studied retailing for years and consumer perception is just not in...

    Celestion F-Series - Any experiences?

By the way, its 15K now... ;) Was at Cavendish and they're not happy with Sonar, so they want to phase the range out of the shop (read: specials on current stock). So, if I can't afford it, now is the chance for other members to get them at a good price. Been to Tafelberg - they also recommend...

Misconceptions in the SA general public regarding Home Cinema

Whew... technical overload for my brain, but let's see what's got in. Okay, stop me if I'm wrong at any point: Two main designs of subwoofer: Ported and Sealed. Ported seems to me to be more common, and offers greater real-world output in terms of power versus a sealed design, where the...

I can have a TV in any colour, as long as it's finish is silver...

No look, I'm not seeking multi-coloured TV finishes, just there seems to be an apparent lack of black finishes (should have made that clearer). Just odd in that most home electronics offer the black finish except TV manufacturers. Even in the upper price brackets.

    Celestion F-Series - Any experiences?

Hmmm...been looking around a lot more. B&W 3 series and Marantz vs Boston Audio and Dennon seem to be finalists in the 'mainstream overpriced brands' selection ;) but I 'll listen first then decide. Where do I get hold of Sonar Audio?

I can have a TV in any colour, as long as it's finish is silver...

Just a quick thought: Why, when so many manufacturers are moving to 'designer' asthetics with their construction in so many fields (speakers, computer monitors, home electronics), is the predominant colour of TV sets' finish silver? 98% of mainstream consumer TV's (CRT's) are silver - what is...

    Celestion F-Series - Any experiences?

Merry X-mas to you to. Look, I was just wandering as the F-series was on offer at Audio Council/Audio Vision in Canal Walk. It's just a bit frustrating seeing the scarce options afforded at entry-level when compared to overseas. Yes, we're in SA, but I do feel these shops are shooting...

    Celestion F-Series - Any experiences?

Hi, New to the board and just discovered it. Would just like to know impressions of the Celestion F series offered by Balanced Audio, as an entry-level start to HT. Possibly going to drive them with a Yamaha RX-V657. Looking around and have also had the Kef eggs recommended (KHT 2005.2) and...
