Mark, I must agree with you! while going through the amps we have with Dewalt, it's quit apparent he knew what he was doing and was very innovative. The power supplies he used on the 400's are larger than the 600 watt Manleys with more extensive power regulation.

The usual spelling of Gunther is with the h. In the various posts I've read including the eulogy by Wim, it's spelt Gunter without the h. Does anyone know which way it should be spelt?

I purchased a black pair of 400 watt monoblocks last year, from Donald in Melkbos, the same guy who supplied the Bolero?s beautifully rebuilt by Michael Burger (see: http://mtpi.blogspot.co.za/2016/05/restoring-gunter-steinhart-boleros.html). The amps seems little used but had a wiring issue...

Some of Gunther?s amps were not built very well (putting it mildly) but some his stuff and particularly his last amps like the 200 watt, the 400 watt and the 300 Watt Bolero mono blocks as well as the Fidelio were very well put together and like most of his amps sound amazing. Gunther's story...

Thanks JayMac, there are conflicting stories of how Gunther died and I can't find any information as to what happened to the brand or brands as he traded under more than one. I also have the 200 Watt monoblocks, are yours fitted with PL519's of KT88's?

2016 was the worst period to date for the loss of great talent and it seems the prediction that 2017 is getting of to good start.

Does anyone know Gunther's history. I would like to compile a biography of Gunther and what finally happened to him and the brand.
