Hi Chris, Am interested in the "working" Quad amp :)

Copy of Joburg noise control bye-laws

Thanks for this - we have an establishment in our area (predominantly residential) which has license as a pub and grill but operates more as a night club which plays disturbingly loud music till 2am. Calls to JMPD and SAPS bear no fruit and residents are mad as snakes

AVR: Generator to APC UPS / UPS not happy with supply.

I agree that this should be your first step - check if the frequency is correct. This is assuming your external AVR is regulating to the correct voltage. This external AVR most likely is not necessary as most generators (non -inverter) have an AVR built in which should regulate the output...

AVR: Generator to APC UPS / UPS not happy with supply.

Here's a pic of the scope showing the not-so-good waveform from the generator. The inverter-generators would give a much better shaped waveform - obviously as the output is from an inverter.

AVR: Generator to APC UPS / UPS not happy with supply.

Yes the UPS does not like the waveform of the generator and thus is kicking in and out. Could also be the voltage and frequency that are out of line but that can be easily measured and corrected. I put a scope on a Honda generator (I rate Honda generators in highly) and the output waveform was...

    Sonor Audio

Happy owner of a pair of HTMs from Roy. His speakers are grossly under-rated. All the best to Roy and his endeavors in the US of A and beyond :) (y)

Feeler: Bulk Lithium Battery Import (100Ah / 200Ah)

Correct, the datasheet clearly states that the cells are "2nd Life" . At these prices and now with a warranty this is a better choice IMO than lead acid batteries...

    Lithium batteries for alarm special

I tested my 3x batteries at approx C/10. The battery or datasheet does not state the discharge current in order to obtain the rated capacity) Batteries were charged to 14.0V and charged was disconnected when the charge current was only a few mA. Discharge terminated and measurement stopped...

    Lithium batteries for alarm special

At what discharge rate did you test them at ? My 3x batteries arrived today (delivered very promptly) and I connected them in parallel and charged them to 14.00V (3.5V per cell). I will capacity test each one of them at approx. C/10 which is a common industry discharge rate. The one you tested...

    WiFi Security Camera

I have a number of Ezviz cameras and they are, IMO, better than the majority of products that are out there. This is very likely due to the lesser known fact that Hikvision owns Ezviz ! That wire-free camera would definitely work but I would rather look at the ones that come with a AC power...

    Lithium batteries for alarm special

Thanks SeanJammy. I have ordered a couple :)

    Lithium batteries for alarm special

@stereoholic. LiFePO4 batteries make very good lead acid replacements. The battery kindly offered by SeanJammy (at a very good price) would be a 4S cell configuration. (my guess is that it is a 4S2P cell configuration - 4x series and 2x parallel). A LiFePO4 cell requires a charge voltage of 3.5V...

    RIP

RIP Johan ➕ I had privilege of meeting him at his home as he performed his craftsman work to restore a decrepit Quad amp back to it's former glory. This is now a physical piece of his legacy. Sincere condolences to his family.
