Thanks again fdlsys. You were spot on. Working perfectly with the antenna attached.  ;D Damn the electronics of today are advanced  :o

Denon 2805 AVR - No sound from tuner

I'm afraid I bought it second-hand and didn't receive that antenna, but I'll connect a copper wire across the coax tonight and see what happens. I did have it tuned to an actual station when testing, but I'll give her another run with the copper in there. I'll report back. Thanks again.

Denon 2805 AVR - No sound from tuner

Wow, are you serious? Geez I'm a dumbass! I figured since there was no static, something must be set incorrectly or broken. I'll go buy a coax aerial tomorrow quick and give it another try. Thanks for the help.

Denon 2805 AVR - No sound from tuner

Hey guys. Could you please help me with this. I'm not sure if I'm missing something simple on this monstrosity, or if something is broken, but this thing doesn't make even a hiss when putting it on tuner mode? Just complete silence. My cd player plays just fine through it though. How can I...

    Ten biggest lies in audio

In that case, I have no words  ;) Are you 100% sure it wasn't the placebo effect at play?

That's exactly it. Surely if your speaker cable is thick enough, bi-wiring shouldn't make any difference at all?

I thought he was referring to the myth that biwiring when you only have one channel on the amp provides noticeable improvements. Like so: http://www.brilliancehifi.co.uk/how-to-bi-wire-speakers.htm Even to a electronics noob like myself, that form of biwiring is a load of ****.

Opinion on suitability of 1200VA line conditioner

Hey Skeeter I too read that review, but go ahead and read the comments on that review which go more in depth. I am also quite keen on one of these. Are you getting it through NGR? Thanks

Holy ****, silver speaker cable!? How much did that cost?!?! Would you say that the slight boost in spl was worth the expense?

    I think it's 12 gauge? At least that's what I thought  ???

    Ten biggest lies in audio

That's exactly it, we DID test it on his system and I couldn't notice the difference. While he doesn't have ridiculously expensive cable, I think it's a Van Den Hul cable. We swapped it with my cheap R40/m 3mm wire and I couldn't notice the difference at all.

    Ten biggest lies in audio

No argument here, I'm a complete newbie. I myself will never have a system that you guys would classify as 'good', but it sounds perfect to me. I have however many times listened to a friends' R80k system which he has tuned perfectly (he's a sound engineer), and while it does sound amazing, I...

    Ten biggest lies in audio

Hahaha. Even if huge sums of money are being spent on creating a placebo effect, if you notice the difference, it is all worth it right? I feel fortunate that I am extremely skeptical of any expensive marketing claims until I've experienced it myself and I have yet to notice a difference in...
