I showed a like minded colleague and he asked me if I stole it from NASA  :BWAHAHAH:

New Toy!! Schlumberger Stabilock 4039 RF test bench

I still have my trusty old Leader LSG-11 2-tube signal generator for medium wave testing, the Schlumberger can't go below 1 MHz.

New Toy!! Schlumberger Stabilock 4039 RF test bench

It was going "Ping" but not "Clack" (when the attenuator solenoids energize). Funny how you want things to do that. Now it both Pings and Clacks  :2thumbs: For me, it still is.. :) Not bad, they still crop up occasionally, some as high as 1000 Euro. I know of another one going for 450 but...

New Toy!! Schlumberger Stabilock 4039 RF test bench

I picked this guy up on eBay Germany for 600 Euro. Back in the day this thing was the bomb.. absolute state of the art in the RF world. I had to do a small repair in the attenuator circuit but it's now 100% :2thumbs:

I tried refreshing the share links. Hope it's okay now.

Two French 3-band receivers from the Forties..

So.. In trying to troubleshoot the weak reception in UFO-1, I decided to open up UFO-2 and see what lurks within. I tried to power it up with no success. After replacing a very dodgy power cord and fitting a new fuse  :ROFLMAO: (read a croc clip lead across the fuse holder) I powered it up with...

Two French 3-band receivers from the Forties..

OK so here's a tour of my test equipment. I kinda get a kick out of the fact that it's from the same era as the stuff I work on - for the most part.. I have a 16 square meter cellar space that serves for the workshop. It gets a bit cramped in there but at least it's easy to heat in the winter...

Two French 3-band receivers from the Forties..

I will do so once I've tidied up my bench.. It's looking like..........  :puke: Thanks gents. For me it's a challenge to get them going again and looking sorta like something. I believe myself to be rather impatient but maybe it's good to get some perspective from outside my man cave.. I hope...

Two French 3-band receivers from the Forties..

I had to remove a few pieces of wood that seem to have been fitted later on. Now it's out of the cabinet, but I have to stand it on the cabinet because I need the speaker to be connected to power the radio. That's the joy of electromagnetic speakers.. Don't fret.. when I started working on it I...

Two French 3-band receivers from the Forties..

I was getting itchy fingers during the lockdown and thought I'd try expanding my French collection of radios. The local version of Gumtree is called "Leboncoin" (The good corner). I picked up two oldies without brand markings for 30 Euro from a guy not far from me. This is going to be a...

    Bakelite repair

I did a bakelite repair recently to a radio where I used a ratchet strap to pull the crack closed, applied masking tape on the inside of the cabinet and then ran CA glue into the crack from the outside. Several applications until the crack was filled. I also wicked the CA glue into the masking...

Restoring an old French Lady. 1935 ERGOS Model 741

I do know the site but found it to be of marginal use because I have no English equipment here so I mostly rely on the German and French sites.

Restoring an old French Lady. 1935 ERGOS Model 741

It definitely is a bonus to have access to the spares here, at least the valves. Other parts are only obtained by robbing from other radios. Capacitors and resistors are of course no problem. Actually most AM bands are very quickly dwindling in Europe. I'm only receiving UK stations on MW and...
