I can't think of any easy tests you can do with a multimeter off the top of my head. Will be interesting to see if others come up with any cool tricks.
I do wonder how useful the information would be to you though, if for example it turns out to be 175w or 80w, what will you do differently...
The receiver looks capable of 5.1 to me, it seems to have 5.1 analogue inputs and coax/optical digital inputs with dolby digital and dts support. What problems are you experiencing that you want to solve? Is it wired up to your source correctly? If you're using only a 2 channel input then yes...
Hmmm, interesting question.
Low: headband cracking on my anker q30 noise cancelling headphones that i use in the office.
No audio gear changes except for a replacement set of noise cancelling headphones for the office.
High: Just making better use of services like Spotify to find new music...
Haven't used it, but it should absolutely work with REW generated filters, could follow a guide something like this https://www.minidsp.com/applications/rew/rew-autoeq-step-by-step
Isn't "Next Generation" an incredibly stupid thing to include in the name? I mean, surely you're going to have a follow up product eventually, then what will it be called, next next generation? A few years later next next next next generation. Technically any product except the first one is...
I'm having a look at these now, they look really nice. Did you buy the modules separately and build it up into your own chassis with a power supply etc.?
I'm not sure I'm a big believer in synergy or matching specific components together (this often seems to be mentioned in the same breath as a specific amp "sound" matching a specific speaker). My feeling is that if your amp is halfway decent, it'll measure (and sound) pretty much bang on flat in...
Quite a few years ago, there was an event in Gauteng, DIY audio showcase I think. We all wore stickers with our forum names on. But that was a forum event, not really open to the public, I don't think.
My 2c. I don't think 15W of extra power is going to make a huge difference. If the extra HDMI output is important (or usable?) to you and you feel it's worth the price then I guess that's what should sway your decision.
I say spend as much as you can on speakers, get the best that you can, they're the most limiting factor in the sound production chain. If you're a subwoofer guy, spend a lot on subwoofers too.
J River PEQ works well enough, but you're going to need accurate measurements to know where you are and what corrections to apply. Something along the lines of a minidsp umik mic and REW could work.
An alternative to J River could be EqualizerAPO, it's a little more flexible in that it runs in...
And... we reach the end of this saga (hopefully). I collected the amplifiers yesterday, hooked them up this morning and am listening to them now! They seem to now both use the exact same amount of power at idle, which is great/expected. And so far neither of them is running hot.
Unfortunately...
My 2c. It's very worthwhile adding solar panels. A 'backup' system is just a cost, you'll never get anything back from it except the satisfaction of having power for a few hours during loadshedding. A system with panels will start to pay for itself. Yes, we can debate whether it's 'worth it' or...
