HDMI Cables (again)
« on: May 03, 2018, 08:30:43 AM »
I've always been of the opinion that HDMI cables are pretty much the same version wise. But - this was a while back and things have probably changed ...

So what's the latest when buying HDMI cables?
'Premium High Speed' is the one to get with 17Gbps+ bandwidth?

I want to neaten cables at the back of my TV and cladding next week. But, I'd like to plug everything (all 3 x HDMI / 2 x USB) in before I put the TV up, for any future expansion.

There are more demands on HDMI cables with 4K transmissions
Even duct tape can’t fix stupid… but it can muffle the sound

I was thinking 3 of these :

https://www.takealot.com/lindy-hdmi-male-to-male-cromo-cable-1m/PLID32843792

But they don't mention bandwidth ? But they do say :

HDMI 2.0 compliant, supporting Ultra HD up to 4K 2160p60 and 4K 3D

All High Speed cables should at minimum offer 18Gbps throughput, but there's no guarantee they do unless they've applied for and received Premium certification - but a recognised brand like Lindy is sure to be true to their word.

Do you think R299.00 for a Lindy cable is a fair price?

It's in keeping with their international pricing. Personally I like Amazon Basics, a 2-pack of 1m cables costs less than R100, but I don't believe they ship to S.A.?

I ordered these from amazon.

Unfortunately, I haven't tested since I am in limbo at the moment.

Why wouldn't you get certain features? The Amazon Basics cables are cheap and they'll pass along whatever you throw at them.
