I'm upgrading the TVP200 from PL519's to KT88's and fitting sockets so would really appreciate schematics or any information.

Follow the schematic for the TVP800 or any other KT88 amp in the schematics. The driver stages remain much the same but the biasing differs and of course you would need a hefty 6v supply for the filaments of the KT88.

Question regarding circuit of the TVP-102dd

(The schematics from post #13, 'TVP 102dd Sound stage' and 'TVP-102dd Out + Ps' refer.)

I am looking for information on how exactly Steinhart wanted the Master Balance (R32) and Balance/channel (R20, one/channel) set. These controls are interdependant and it is not clear why both settings were made variable; either the one or the other would have sufficed. [This apart from the fine settings for each power valve: R14 (duplicated for Q1 and Q2), R15 and R16.]

If anybody has information on the original intention, I could PM or phone.

Thanks!

Hi All
I am renovating a pair of TVP-200E mono blocks. I have photos and voltage measurements if anyone is interested.

Underneath the two blocks:

I replaced the electrolytics on both:

one screen grid resistor was off value; replaced with new resistor

I could not find a way to measure idle current through the PL519 cathode, so I inserted a 1 ohm in the cathode lead. (How did Gunther set the bias?)

It turns out that not all tubes are biased correctly... no surprise since they have been biased 30 years ago (I guess)

They average values seems to be 150mA per tube. That should give about 50 watts per PL519 pair, or 200 watts for eight PL519's push-pull.

I tried to bias all the tubes to 150mA, but some PL519's do not want to go above 125mA; so I am going to bias one pair to 125mA and the rest to 150mA to keep DC balance.

Thanks to peter190e, the missing power supply schematic from the TVP77UL amplifier is now loaded onto Dropbox.

I had a pair of TVE 200's

They weigh a ton but sonically they did not work for me in my system. Such a pitty as i really wanted to keep them

Hey Guys Got some pic (Actually Mountains full of pics) of the Gunter Steinhart TVP404. I downloaded the diagrams posted here and went through them but cant see anything resembling the TVP404.. It used one EC82 and one EC83 per channel and two KT88 per channel on the output. Does anybody - a very long shot I know - have the diagram for the TVP404? or know which one of the other diagrams are the closest?

Sounds suspiciously close to the TVP80D, schematic in the very first post of this thread. Same valve line-up so can't be that different.

Yes- I went through all of the diagrams that is posted here and Think the TVP502CD is similar also.. Problem is - I need to replace the one transistor on the input board (Think its a BU505 - And then I measured 580V on all the KT88 Plates, obviously this is way too high and there are no VR to adjust this, So - my only thought is that somebody changed a component / s and that's what the bias ended up as being.
