Title: Actually pulling away from the forum for a bit...
Post by: Mervin on September 04, 2015, 01:27:08 PM
Was a nice place to share niceties... now it feels like I am with my ex again...
Emotions are high, retort on every conversation and urinating contest.

Thanks guys, I have too much going on my life to get primary school playground bickering on what used to be an informative forum.

back at a much later time.

I haven't been here that long, but I'm already getting that vibe about this forum.

Guys, you need to be a little patient. The mods remove stuff like this as soon as it is brought to their attention. Unfortunately, if this happens at 1:00 in the wee AM, it's not going to go away until a decent hour later that morning.

However, if this does not stop, the delinquent causing this can look forward to a three-day ban from the forum for the first offence, a 7-10 day ban for the second offence, while the third time is a permanent ban.

Please respect the rules you agreed to when registering on the forum (I wonder how many people have actually read these?).

Briefly:

* No profanity or blasphemy
* No personal attacks on other members
* No price discussions in the Classifieds - use the PM function
* No religous discussions
* Newbies who flood the forum with ridiculous one-liners in order to gain a post count will have their post counts reset to zero. Thereafter, the rules above apply.
* Do not even bother sending a PM to a Mod if you are guilty of one or other offence, the PM will be ignored.

This forum is insanely busy considering the number of active posters, the Mods cannot be everywhere all the time. Several people are already on a watch list (seen only by the moderators) - don't strive to be one of them.

Have to agree, Mervin that food looks for more appealing than the junk that is being dished up here on the forum. My sabbatical is due, so I will join you.

Thanks guys... I think the forum will sort itself out with some guidance from the moderators who, I might add, has a crappy and thankless job.  Need a cooldown bin actually for forumites who misbehave.

Since the forum upgrade, the 'Chill Room" is no longer functional as it should be. Hence the decision to start with a 3-day ban.

The problem is we need to remember to undo the ban after the specified period, and because the mods are so busy here, they tend to forget to undo the ban.  :roll:

I must say, I use the forum as my "Happy Place" when I settle down to listen to music. I'm more into playing those long forgotten tunes and exploring a few of the newer ones and looking at how the guys have set up their systems to get the best stage etc. Cables and kit threads etc I will look at, but very seldom comment on and often find it amusing at the amount of energy and listening time wasted by arguing their merits / demerits :)

What I have noticed recently is that my reading time on the forum has dropped a lot due to the above posted issues. I'm not clued up on artist histories etc so I don't comment much on what I'm listening to ....I just maar listen :)

But, this happens on ALL forums that I am a member of, unfortunately. Males and their eggo's ;) Just shrug it off... I must say this forum is better in this regard to many other forums as I have seen much less urinating contests here than say on Gunsite. There you can make just one spelling mistake and the thread turns sour :sd:

It has calmed down.. think it was some young bulls whose urine is not effective in marking their territory in real life, and have to practice here.

^^lol.  You are so spot on Mervin. I have had the privilege of meeting/talking to many a forum member (new and old) and have to say, often the online persona does not relate to the real person AT ALL, especially if the online persona is in idi@t :ROFLMAO:.    There is of course a few exceptions....  ;) but perfect gentleman for the most part.
