Title: Which cooler for i5 2500K?
Post by: johnc on May 27, 2011, 07:00:07 PM
I'm somewhat overwhelmed by the sheer range of CPU coolers available out there.

This CPU will probably sit on an Asus P67 pro motherboard.
What is the most effective cooler available for the 2500K for < R500 ?

The std. Intel heatsink & fan assembly. This CPU does not run hot.

Johnc

Myself running 2500k with Coolermaster Hyper 212. Idles at 18, seldom goes above 45C.
Also very quiet, has option to add additional 120mm fan on exhaust side. Not needed imo though.

Cost in region of R250 to R300. Got mine from LandmarkPC.

From what I've heard with the new CPUs you should be fine with the stock cooler. Otherwise I'll always recommend Zalman's CPU coolers, not sure whether they have products for socket 1155 out there yet?

Hyper 212 is a good call.

Thanks for the info. Agreed, the 212 looks like a good choice.

I also read that the stock cooler is fine.
Are CPU's generally supplied with a cooler included or does one have to buy the cooler separately?
