They changed the whole site over the past weekend. Suddenly the clicks have fallen drastically from an average 30,000 per day to about one-fifth of that. But you are allowed five clicks per day now, so please do put all five of your clicks in every day.

And vote "No!" for the new site :(

The doggies need your clicks, fellows.

That's heartbreaking. One feels so helpless when one's pet suffers like that. Each dog has it's own personality and brings such joy to it's owner in it's own unique way. But you 're bringing a new life to another dog that would otherwise have an uncertain future.

From SPCA Rustenburg.

Been there about a month - very thin but feisty and well-socialised. My wife likes poodles. I like the big ones, but I'm happy to have this guy. He's a few years old - hard to say. Very nice people there - they even clipped him to get him respectable when we told them we were coming around.

The thing is, having accepted his hand in friendship, we'll never take him back, so I hope he will learn that and get comfortable.

Great dog, Pat! We rescued a dog from JHB when the brandewynsuipers did a duck one night end left the dog to fend for itself. My mom was at an old-age home at the time and of course the old tannies adopted it. "Legs" soon became part of the family and very protective!  ;)

It's a bit like a secret society - Dog Rescuers!

Barking Mad gets a grand a month from us plus clicks. Same goes to FreeMe for wildlife rescue - hope that feeds a few mouths!

My neighbour feeds the feral cats in two office parks, rescues every stray dog, feeds every bird including the ducks down at the dam, and puts her maid's kid through school. It costs her a lot more than it costs me. Some folks care.

I'm trying to adopt this lost puss. I think he might once have been a pet that was abandoned to go wild. He is very jumpy, but not quite wild enough to have been born wild  (I think). He arrives for food every evening - for about 6 months, but he still won't let me get closer to him than about 2m. He's been caught once & taken to the vet for vaccinations & neutering - he was so well behaved in the cage and the car, but when brought back 'home', he flew out like a mad thing and didn't come back for 2 days. He has a kennel in the garden (with an under-floor heater!) but still chooses the pile of cusions on the verandah to spend most nights.

Lovely ocelot markings. What you might have meant was: I am trying to convince this cat that I am to be treated more as a friend and less as the guy who runs the soup-kitchen and the flop-house!

Obviously doing a great job on its physical state - that cat looks sleek!

Lovely ocelot markings. What you might have meant was: I am trying to convince this cat that I am to be treated more as a friend and less as the guy who runs the soup-kitchen and the flop-house!

He is becoming more 'domestic'.
He seems to spend his whole day in the roof now, never going far. He still will not let me touch him, but if I bend down to talk to him, he will stand up on his back feet and touch his nose on mine!
He has decided that the kitchen is quite OK to sit in now... as long as he isn't too far from the door, to escape, if required.

Watch these buggers!

my PA has a very similar-looking tom named Gus. He went missing, they put up posters, children were told about death being a natural process, etc. More tears.......
Went to put up a poster at the vet and receptionist said, I'm sure he's here, the people down the road brought him in, he got hit by a car. But they say he's their cat

long and short, they agreed to split the bill. He is now called Guts and is happy to be a travelling man!

I've got a nice tip for tick removal and this thread is probably the best place to post. May also save you some time googling for it cause I'm struggling to find the link once more.

Long story short, with all the rain we've had lately our dogs seem to pick up some ticks despite the Frontline we use.
Now this method that works great and it removes the whole tick with minimum effort, no sprays or tweezers. You get your dog in position and with your finger start rotating the tick in one way, clockwise or anti-clockwise.
It takes less than a minute, but for some reason the tick releases completely and you can destroy it or save for later in case your dog gets sick and you want to take the offender with to the vet for analysis.

At this time of the year, many people are away on holiday yet the demand for food for stray pets is under great strain.

Please do not forget your daily five clicks on the Barking Mad (http://www.barkingmad.co.za/ClickThankYou.aspx) site.

You should be able to click up to five times every couple of hours, please do so.

Huskeys or dogs in general if you look at the animal world most predators wont bite their prey on the bum?
They go for the neck, I wonder if this was indeed done by the huskey.
If so yes take out the 9mm and shoot the dog.
But to beat it to death with sticks and pipes until it drowns in its own blood is flipping insane.
And i will beat the **** out of the people that treats an animal like that.

Also the article claims its pet goats but later they slaughtered and ate them.

All of you here have kids or know kids, tell me how that will go down.

Guys, over the past four five days the clicks have fallen by half. Don't know if there is a problem with their website counter but our furry friends are going hungry.

Please take a few moments and click - you get five clicks per day.

Clicked and subsequent BUMP, come on people, think about it.. A few mouse clicks and several doggy pals get a full tummy.

I'll do my level best...and repost it on some other forums.

That was when he was one day old. He is now 27 months old but the pic below was taken at 12 months:

(Rocky & Skippy - Tammy (Staffie) walked out of the scene just as I was taking the pic)

Good show Stan. With all these recent holidays, April is not a good month for the doggies, the click count falls miserably on each holiday.

I used to support the SPCA until I found out that they euthanize dogs when they are not adopted. I will now support dog town  :)
Title: Re: Help a Best Friend in Need

Euthanising animals is sad, I don't condone it but can (grudgingly) understand they simply do not have the necessary space for the animals. It is always a heart-breaking experience walking through the kennels and viewing the pooches, one simply wants to adopt all of them.
