Title: Furutech announces the "NCF Booster"
Post by: JeandreB on October 17, 2017, 05:43:13 PM
Furutech has announced the release of a new intriguing-looking product, called the NCF Booster.

It has already taken the Japanese market by storm --- to such an extent that production for International sales will only be available by end October 2017.

The Furutech NCF Booster is a multi-functional device that offers the following performance enhancements:

-   It provides support to heavy power cables. No more sagging at the AC wall outlet (which is a known problem especially when using US male plugs) or at the equipment’s AC inlet!

-   It lifts audio- and power cables off the ground, thereby minimizing electromagnetic/static interference and interaction with the surface of the floor/carpet.

-   It provides superior damping support (caused by electrical-, mechanical- and acoustic vibrations) for connectors and cables at points of connection.

The construction of the unit contains Furutech’s patented NCF technology capable of eliminating static build-up and providing superior damping via nano-sized ceramic particles and carbon powder.

Real-World Examples:

Is there some kind of semi-conducting material in the device, similar to the rings in a choke that you can put around mains cables?

No it does not "choke off / supress" interference induced onto the cable...superior cables are either well-screened or even contain a ferro-magnetic-type RF-choke....for this purpose Furutech makes use of their own technology called GC-303 (found in their power distribution/filtering units and on their top-range cables).

The NCF Booster is constructed from Furutech's proprietary NCF technology; which in short, is a special crystalline material compound that contains nano-sized ceramic particles and carbon powder. NCF effectively gives the Booster (and what it comes in contact with) superior vibration (mechanical and acoustical) dampening properties which is important in a high-end system seeing that vibrations can (and this is well described in technical publications) alter the characteristics of electronic equipment and/or affect the properties of crystals, conductors, etc. This interference results in distortion of the original signal(s), which may compromise the sound/performance of the system. That is, for example, why you (and all of you know this!) pay special attention to having good vibration isolation for your turntable (small signal).

Ok, so what you’re telling me is that vibration dampening and control in hifi systems is hogwash?

So all our Forum members that have spent good money on specialised hifi racks, equipment feet, platforms, etc etc to control vibration in their systems are delusional?

I have a solution: Let us have a demo and see if we cannot cure you from your ignorance? What do you say?

I'm sorry, I think you have me confused with someone who gives any hoots about whether perceived solution in a loved hobby is delusional or not.

The mods I've made to paintball markers/turntables might seem the same to others.

If I express opinions on an open forum, whether you like them or not, they are mine and I'll have them out thank you.

If you agree to be the test subject in a DBT and you can reliably tell me every time they’re in the mix vs not, I’ll buy them. If you can’t you give a pair to every forum member that asks...fair deal, no?

As I said, anyone wanting a demo of the product, drop me a PM and we will arrange....there is really no sense in making negative upfront remarks of any product prior to being exposed.

Dude, where are your good vibrations?

Currently in my pocket.

A DBT where your experienced ears are being used to prove the significant difference your own product makes on your own high-end system is extremely positive or am I not hearing you right?

The significance and reliability of DBT’s have been debated since the stone ages....

People’s ears, tastes, opinions, moods, preferences, etc. differs.

What matters to you before you purchase a product is whether YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. It is that simple. Not what your buddy says or I say. Or what the DBT says.

I am simply offering you an opportunity to listen to the NCF Booster (in your own system and with your own ears if you so wish) and make up your own mind whether you like it or not.

Off course not everyone will have the same opinion about a specific product.

It is your prerogative whether you like it or not; and I am definitely not expecting everyone to like what we have to offer. If that was the case then there would be but only one pair of loudspeakers, one amplifier, one CD player, one Turntable, etc on offer in the world that everyone would be buying and be loving! Not realistic.

No Sir! What matters most before I purchase any product, other than Swiss chocolates, is to establish the truth about the product and credibility of he seller. It has nothing to do whether I like or not. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. It really is as simple as that.

Absolutely!!

No extraordinary claims are being made. I never said this product is better than any other product designed for the same purpose; neither did I claim they are the best in the world. I simply explained its intended function/purpose as a newly launched product.

It is definitely and by all means for you, as the customer, to establish the truth about the product (or for that matter any of our products) by taking them off me and making up your own mind....and our interaction and my level of service will then surely be a way in establishing my credibility.

As you rightly said...it is as simple as that :)

A well-used word - The TRUTH

Our Hi-Fi Club Chairman - he who has golden ears - suspends his CD player on tennis balls cut in half and mounted on some squishy material.  Who are we to say it is hogwash?
Title: Re: Furutech announces the "NCF Booster"

But the moment he claims that those tennis balls are :-

“constructed from some proprietary technology; which in short, is a special crystalline material compound that contains nano-sized ceramic particles and carbon powder. These tennis balls effectively gives the Booster (and what it comes in contact with) superior vibration (mechanical and acoustical) dampening properties which is important in a high-end system seeing that vibrations can (and this is well described in technical publications) alter the characteristics of electronic equipment and/or affect the properties of crystals, conductors, etc. This interference results in distortion of the original signal(s), which may compromise the sound/performance of the system. That is, for example, why you (and all of you know this!) pay special attention to having good vibration isolation for your turntable (small signal).”

Then I am very convinced he is making extraordinary claims about those tennis balls. Even though he is stating some truths (e.g. vibration isolation) in his case it does not make everything true (Fallacy of association). I am also convinced that no one will blame me if I am especially sceptical about his “truth”. The burden of proof is not mine as I made no such extraordinary claims. I am just sceptical about the specials characteristics of those tennis balls. I think it is possibly snake oil and that ordinary 2nd hand Dunlop tennis balls will work equally as well.

I am not making extraordinary claims about the product's construction and/or materials used - those are all facts from Furutech.

It is now for you to test the product in your system and decide whether they make a difference or not and then come tell us all your findings.

Before that, this chit-chat is really just a waste of everyone's time.

Do you wish to demo the product in your system?

Sure thing. Why not. You can contact me via PM to get my exact address in Cape Town. Please send as many as you do believe I need  to experience the full results, at your earliest convenience. If you are based in Cape Town please come and visit and we can experience it together.

I will even invite a few "golden ear" formunites  to come and experience your product.

Or better yet. Facts don't make business.

But who am I.

Eskom lifts their cables off from the ground, especially along freeways and highways. So it can't be a myth.  :sulky:

That's just so's they don't get stolen more than they already do :winkwink:

Do insurance even cover the costs if cable elevators like these get stolen.

I would like to hear this device in action

In fact, the CT Hi-Fi Club guys and girl (only one) are very keen to evaluate anything that might improve one's sound
