Anyone who has owned the same pair of HD600 for a couple years probably knows the problem.  Intermittent contact with the capsules.  Sounds like a broken cable or connector.  You move,  crackle. Annoying.  Even scary at higher levels.
New cables don?t really help or do sometimes for a short while until the somewhat bent contact springs settle.  Then it?s back to crackle crackle.

I decided to google again and see if I could find a fix.  I ended up watching a YouTube disassembly of the HD600 by inner fidelity.

To my amazement he showed that the springs are a Sennie spare part and replaceable.

They push in and out with some care.

I ordered the only  4 springs in stock with Sennie SA.
Got them picked up.  Courier cost more than springs.

Ready to rock and roll I got stumped a little.  My wires were soldered on to the springs.  My HD600 weren?t bought new and are old.  Maybe they are real early or even got ?modded?.  Dunno.

Anyways.  Nervous as hell I proceeded.  The lead wires are as thin as those on a cartridge coil.  Low temp.  Magnification. Facing Mecca and holding breath I managed to desolder a spring at a time and fit new springs one at a time and solder the leads to the new springs which are an easier to solder material than the old ones.

It worked.  I broke bought.  No more crackle.  With the fresh sushi is from a few months ago it?s like a an old friend who got a boob job and some Botox.  Lovely again.

Very pleased.  My best hifi spend of 40 bucks plus vat for 2020.
