Hi Morne, is this project still alive?
I'd love to hear the end product.

After reading @Kent Kassler 's anecdotal post  :giggle:, I made myself 2 slices of 'burnt toast', added a generous layer of butter and an even more generous coating of Pecks. Oh wow, savoring every bite as I polish these off - amazing how one appreciates it so much more when its not 'just food' anymore. Cheers.

I tried this before, but you need to convince the vendor upfront that it is for export. I never got this right if the parcel was sent to a forwarder, as there is scope for tax fraud.

Tax paid at origin has no bearing on the ZA tax code, if understood correctly and from experience.

General Discussion / Re: 5.1 audio via media player not working

Notwithstanding, I had been getting it via the Toslink output. I am using the Ematic AGT419 Quad Core  4K Ultra HD Android TV

Strange that you've been getting via optical as that, as far as I know, it should never have worked.

That said, I've only tried via HDMI and got both 5.1 / 4K / HDR on Netflix

Fellows,

Suppose a purchase is made in the USA, and shipped to a local (USA) forwarding depot (for forwarding to SA) : under these circumstances sales tax is due in the USA on items shipped to a local USA destination. Is this tax value supposed to be excluded or included in the SA Customs VAT / Duty calculation on arrival of the item in SA ?

example:

You purchase a $100 item in the USA and ship it to the closest freight-forwarder there. The local (USA) destination incurrs 8.8% sales tax ($8.8) which is disclosed in the billing/invoice which you have paid. The item is then forwarded to SA and subjected to SA Customs Duty and Excise. Is the sales tax paid at the international destination ($8.8 in the USA) included or excluded in the SA Customs / VAT / Duty calculation ?  (Discuss for 15 marks).

Thanks
Marantz123.

General Discussion / 5.1 audio via media player not working
« Last post by Shonver on Today at 11:48:52 AM »
Since yesterday I can't seem to get 5.1 digital audio from Netflix. I don't recall if Amazon Prime ever gave me 5.1, but that also gives me no 5.1. All I'm getting is 2-channel, which I can convert to Pro Logic, but that's not what I want. When searching, I'm finding (older) results stating that Netflix does not allow 5.1 over S/PDIF. Notwithstanding, I had been getting it via the Toslink output. I am using the Ematic AGT419 Quad Core  4K Ultra HD Android TV Box.

Anyone else having this problem?

Well....my daughter's boyfriend is the actual "Michelin Man" and not fussy at all. That obese ball of lard fusses not and is the most efficient waste disposal unit on planet earth.
He couldn't care if it's Argentinian "previously frozen" or roadkill from the N2 outside Gugulethu....that bastid will call it cuisine and munch upon it regardless.
The owners of Steers and KFC down the road here send him Christmas and Get Well cards when his Irritable bowel kicks in.
I once offered him the cats pilchards in tomato sauce on week old Blue Ribbon and the guy had a cuisine orgasm praising my skill.
Anyway....just thought I'd share.

Kassler ...always entertaining, never a dull moment .. !
