If you can afford it, @$1800, I cant, I have tried it on demo at home, by far the best DAC I have tried, It leaves my Musical Fidelity XDAC V8 somewhat lacking, and that was $1500 in 2008.

^ FWIW, I had one (the D2), and found it to be a very nice dac, excellent value and quite upgradable...

Tried a few much more expensive dacs that I turned down because of the synthetic sound they had

Good point, for home theatre balance is important!

I currently have KEF LS50s as my front stage. The plan was to replace them with KEF Q950 fronts and the Q650C center.

nice find Ron - i like the AS16 price - i paid more than R3k on the self import a while back - at R2k its a steal  - some of those prices are pretty decent

Also, i dont know how legit this is but someone at Carbonite posted this there - also a local site dealing with KZ stuff - just need to be careful if you are buying from these guys for the first time - maybe buy a cheap one first

Yea that was me. I should ask on carb if anyone has dealt with them before I take the plunge on a pair of ZS10 Pro's.
Or maybe even KZ ZSX.

I was looking to try/buy second hand but I can't seem to find any anywhere, not even on this forum.

Very useful, any possibility of sharing the 3D files?

Also planning to build a plinth (first a minimal test bench type, then a proper one).

Ardbeg Wee Beastie:

I bought a couple of these on impulse when I saw them. A 5 year old new standard part of the Ardbeg lineup, bourbon and sherry casks. There have been a few younger peaty releases which have really caught my fancy, such as Port Carlotte PC8 and Lagavulin 12 CS (relative to the 16), so I was hopeful that this would be a similar peat bomb.

It's not so much a peat bomb as a bonfire, and (as I have discovered with other sherry expressions) I'm not partial to the sherry elements, there's kind of a paint-thinner note that I don't care for there. However there is a sweetness and the smoke is big (which I do like) and it has that youthful vigor. So, add a little water, and much like an unruly child, have it sit in timeout for a half-hour or so and it loses a bit of the attititude and becomes quite enjoyable.

For my money I'll stick with the 10 and lose the sherry notes, but this is not without merit if you like big smoke riding on some sweetness.

For reference Caol Ila is my poison, give me bandages and TCP any day!

Really impressive.

On my list of projects, is a laminated plywood 301 plinth.

This would be ideal to use, to make the perfect recess in the top, to allow flush-mounting of the 301 chassis.
