TEAC TN-300 in the house :-)

R4500.00

"The TN-300 belt-drive analogue turntable is housed in a stylish chassis, containing an MM Phono equalizer amplifier with USB output. Both Phono and Line outputs are supplied, which allows you to play vinyl into powered speakers or a stereo without a Phono input. Transfer music from vinyl records to your Mac or PC using the USB digital output. CD quality digital archiving via USB preserves your vinyl collection for use on a smartphone or Digital Audio Player.
With the included audio-technica AT95E VM cartridge, the TN-300 sounds great right out of the box. An aluminium, die-cast, High inertia platter is also included. The TN-300 is the perfect turntable for any music lover from first time users to audiophiles, with high-quality sound and sturdy yet stylish design."

I have four black and one red one at that price.

Beautiful. How do you rate it against the Lenco L90?

What about perhaps providing a Google drive or Dropbox download of a 3minute demo track recorded via USB for interested parties?

48khz 16bitWAV or FLAC of a good quality LP should work?

@ alty and kent how good is the onboard phonostage?

Granted its not going to be brilliant for this kind of moolah but I do like the idea of just hooking it straight to a pre and you have tunes  :groovy:

Would USB to SPDIF work ?

Beautiful. How do you rate it against the Lenco L90?

Much better...

Bearing
The Teac bearing is much beefier than the Lenco L90 bearing. It's also made nicer with a smoother finish...

Drive motor
The Teac and Lenco share the same drive system. They did change the board and the power supply that runs the motor. The Teac has an off-board power supply...

Tonearm
This is where the Teac really shines over the L90. The tolerances are much better than the L90. You can also do a Baerwald alignment with the Teac. With the Lenco you are pretty much limited to the Stephenson alignment scheme.

Cartridge
The Teac is also a no-brainer. The Sanyo cartridge on the L90 is horrible (which is why I normally 'encourage' that people upgrade the cart before even playing the deck). It plays but that is about it. The AT95e on the Teac is well known and well regarded.

Phono Stage.
The Teac's phono stage is a little quieter than the Lenco L90 phono stage. The big plus is that the internal phono stage can be bypassed with a switch.

Quality of the Fit and finish
Both are pretty much the same...

Will see what I can do... I need to bring a table home with me as I do no have a computer at the shop (how analogue is that  :BWAHAHAH: )

The phono stage is OK. It's better than most real budget options (think Joseph or Electro-vision) but not better than something budget like the Rega Fono mini.
Again, it also depends what you are playing into. Most of the tables I sell go to people who are going to use the table with a mini HiFi, docking station or even TV's... For them the phono stage is perfectly adequate...

hehe, it's more a middle age over the hill thing... They want to listen to their old records again, they chucked their old record player 20 years ago but they don't really want to spend on a whole HiFi and neither do they want to buy second hand but they do know that Crossley is not really all that great.

Students use docks. The clever ones get a nice second hand pair of powered monitors...

USB to spdif not possible afaik.  Not sure of the correct term but a converter and this USB on the table are both "peripherals"

This tool I don't use enough but it's invaluable to do comparisons before and after set ups or motor control changes or cart comparisons etc.

For some reason the local importer never brought the Teak one in  :nfi:

Bit like the Rega RP1, never seen the Union Jack version over here, for sure it would be popular!

It's been available in super pack version. Some must have it.  Many won't spend the extra.
