Speaker surrounds (rubbers) care
« on: November 27, 2021, 09:22:50 PM »
Hi guys I am just busy clean my speakers and is was wondering is there something I can use to clean my rubbers with. I just want to clean and protect them. Is there any advice from my fellow sound addicts.

Pricy, but 32oz will last you a lifetime and not just on speaker foam/rubber but anything made of rubber, PU, vinyl... They also have 16oz at R350.

^^ this as a first option. But I use this with no problems and excellent results:

My take on this is that if there is nothing wrong with the speakers then brush any dust off with a soft brush and then leave them alone. Its just that over the years I have managed to mess up a number of things by fiddling with them when no action was actually required.

Depends on the fiddler and the fiddle. :giggle:

Recommended "303" rubber/plastics nourishing and UV protective compound has been tested and found safe, effective and henceforth used by NASA inside the spacecrafts for 50 years before the IP of the original tender could be released for commercial use in products aimed at general public.

@fdlsys. You are right. Perhaps more careful fiddling from a competent fiddler using the right fiddle is what is required. Regarding the "303", you may just be convincing me. Do you use "303" on your speakers?

I'm almost at the end of my original 500ml purchased 15+ years ago so I'll soon be visiting that link I posted earlier ...
