I am not talking about the new car dealers now, but about well established recommended workshops.
Yesterday I went into Midas. the only 5W30 oil they sell is their own housebrand.
All the other big names like Shell Helix Ultra, Total Quartz, etc is sold, a whole isle full of just oil, yet all the good brands synthetic oil is all 5W40.
So if you take your car for a service and your manual states 5W30 fully synthetic oil, do they put in 5W40 just because that is all that is available to buy locally?
Or do they ensure to buy stock of the correct grades and keep levels up to ensure their clients cars get the correctly specifies oil?
Most cars these days require 5W40.
I find it strange that a retail shop specializing in seller car parts and fluids sell only 5W40 oil, despite 5W30 being recommended and specified by 99% of car manufacturers :roll:
