Is R45 from Malmesbury to Saldanha area user friendly / roadworks free ?

Afternoon all. I need to drive to Saldanha tomorrow morning early from CFM and am considering the back / farm road route - through CL to CK - Hopefield towards Saldanha . Is the road reasonably user friendly, or does it have serious roadworks/ issues ? Anyone been using the road this week ?
