Headphone amp

(1/1)

Riaanee0:
Are there converters available to convert unbalanced headphone amps to balanced?

Crankshaft:
I don't think so.
A balanced amplified is a different device.

A balanced amp requires 4 amplifiers (where a single-ended stereo requires only 2) but some offer transformer coupling on RCA inputs to concert single-ended inputs to balanced for convenience so that a balanced signal is amplified.

Scubadude:
Suppose some kind of phase splitter could work. But why? I have half a dozen or more amps, some of them regarded among the best, not a 4pin XLR in sight.i have heard really good and really bad single ended and balanced amps ... More than one road to audio nirvana.

Cyzer:
You can do it, but there will be zero electrical benefit. All you will get is the ability to use a balanced connection. If you need it for the connection rather use a XLR (female) to 1/4" TRS stereo adapter.
